I'm glad they have a chip on their shoulder and are taking this seriously, but they still gotta prove it on the ice and against the Rangers well, they really haven't for a long time. Even last season they split the season series which has to be the best they've done against the blue-shirts since, 2010?

So yeah, just f***ing win please.

Carolinan Sami Vatanen kauhistelee paikallisten käytöstä ja on huolissaan NHL-kuplan turvallisuudesta: "Kun NHL haluaa rahaa, meidän on mentävä" (in Finnish)

Sammy Vats is pretty open about his reluctance on continuing the season:

- I'm not a fan of this system.

- They have put up this setup pretty forcedly*. NHL wants the money, I guess we have to go.

- I have thought things mostly regarding safety. Is it really safe? The coronasituation in US is still extremely bad. It may not be so dangerous for us players, but you get worried over the elder people. We got coaches, and maintenance and arena personnel. This is not necessarily especially healthy.

Of Raleigh:

- I'm not surprised of the corona figures from herewith. People go around in the traffic every day like without cares. Hanging out in the city, eating in restaurants. I don't wonder they make every day new records in infections.

Apparently he's also slightly more eager for golf than Teuvo. He came to the interview from Raleigh golf field. Had to play with Teuvo's clubs, you can't get anything done with them.

(* The setup is "forced", he said. I must stress he didn't say that players would have been forced to play.)

Love seeing all the in state sports clubs supporting the Canes..especially this one..glad to see TT

You'll love that Coach K sounded the siren from Cameron Indoor Stadium today :sarcasm:

In all seriousness, I'm glad to see the Canes are getting some love from the rest of the state. Granted in years past they never did anything to warrant it but anyone who wasn't a die-hard fan like we are just either forgot about them or didn't care, or both.

Now, they have an opportunity to do what the Predators have done in the last 5-10 years w/ Tennessee and even parts of Kentucky and Alabama, and expand their fan relations through winning and better marketing. The Hornets are probably going to suck for awhile, and the Panthers are a huge question mark at this time. Can't really do anything about the college fans, they will live and die w/ their schools.

Canes Bubble intro

That's cool.

But I have to wonder, why all the effort into that and the way they added all the screens to arena? You can hardly see any of it during the broadcasts. Did the league forget how the games are shot? You have the whole lead up to the game with talking heads and video replays, etc., then the game itself. The in arena shots are so few and far between during the broadcasts. I think we've seen more locker room footage at this point then stands footage.

It looks like all they did was play the usual home intro video. Nothing new.

Really not sure there’s a point to the screens other than looking cool and creating a vibe in the building.

They certainly have simulated how the arena would look like with and without audience and with the screens. I'd guess they decided there needs to be some bells and whistles where the audience normally creates distraction because otherwise the visual disconnect from full audience to empty hall would be too much.

I also wouldn't count out that the optics of a fully empty hall would be too much an anathema for the organizations usually playing in these specific arenas. The regular audience pays a big penny for the privilege to be eye candy for the TV viewers, you don't want them start thinking that they (the organization) should be paying pay us (the live audience) for creating the atmosphere that sells the tickets to TV viewers.

Is it obvious to y’all that Mike and Tripp are at PNC Arena? I’m trying to explain to a friend that it’s evident they can’t see everything going on....curious if I’m making that up in my head or if anyone else feels that way.

It's been noticeable a few times. Mostly on occasions where the camera is coming from that weird overheadish angle.
