Do we know who is in town and who went to practice this week?

We have like 2 weeks of training camp until the season starts back up?
Carolina Hurricanes not reopening facilities for voluntary player workouts

While several teams planned to reopen their facilities for the players, the Carolina Hurricanes made the decision to wait. A team official said Monday that there were about seven or eight players in the area, but by mutual agreement they would continue to train on their own for now.

Was doing my normal trail walk in North Raleigh this morning with my Irish Doodle, and was crossing paths with a couple with two tall Goldendoodles. Was focused on their dogs as we were approaching each other because my dog gets excited at the sight of other dogs. Once I get close to the couple, I recognize the guy is Jacob Slavin!!! Let our dogs sniff each other momentarily. I say what’s up and wished him the best. Extremely nice. He’s tall and ripped. Definitely in shape.

You'd never know it but it's more than likely the average person living in a nice area of a town w/ sports town has come in contact with a pro athlete at least once and not realize it.

I saw Steve Smith (former Panthers receiver) at Harris Teeter about a year ago. I wasn't sure who he was at first but I knew he was someone I was familiar with and then it hit me. He is a lot shorter in person than one might think, and I'm just at 6 feet tall.

NHL dudes look like your average 20-30 something suburban/yuppie type outside their uniforms.

Pretty much. I think I mentioned before that I passed Jordan Staal on the greenway a few weeks ago. Took me a minute to place him as well. Until I did, I just thought he was another guy out for a bike ride with his kids.

My two favorite athlete run-ins: Muggsy Bogues and Greg Skrepenak.

For opposite reasons.

Due to my location I’ve seen quite a few ESPN guys at the airport. Chris Berman probably the biggest name.

Kevin Ollie came to Thanksgiving at my grandmothers house when he was still in school at UCONN as a guest of my cousin. That was pretty wild. I must’ve been 12 at the time and I couldn’t believe how big this guy was because he was the smallest guy on the court usually.

From Friedman’s 31 Thoughts on what players from the AHL/prospects each team might add to the roster for the playoffs:

Carolina is considering three of its top prospects: forward Dominik Bokk (acquired in the Justin Faulk trade), Jake Bean (the AHL’s Outstanding Defenceman this year) and fellow blueliner Joey Keane (AHL All-Rookie Team).

I’d be pretty shocked if Bokk would be hanging around camp
Why not? We get to expand the roster, and the AHL won't be playing. Even if they don't wind up in many games, you're going to want to get your top prospects ice time in case you need them to fill in for injuries, and just getting them into NHL practices is an unambiguously good thing for their development overall.

Rod has said he doesn’t want to clog the ice. We already have 8 defenders with 13 forwards, not including Pesce. I would expect Bean and, maybe, Keane to be added. If. If, another forward is added it is Bishop, not Bokk.

Yeah Rod isn’t going to put in an offensive player he doesn’t know in this situation. He would use a Bishop and move someone on the 4th line up if a top 9 guy got hurt. We may have Dzingel already on the fourth probably and you know he can play all the way up to the first if we had to.

Hell, thats how Rod does it when he DOES know the forward coming up.

Somehow I think I'm inclined to believe the guy that has connections over you guys. And just because Rod has said he doesn't want a
big camp doesn't mean Waddell doesn't realize the need for the 28 guy roster when we had like 6 injuries in the playoffs last year and this year guys are coming off a big break with a chance guys could get put in isolation at any time.

Who knows what will happen? This type of break is unprecedented for minor leaguers and NHLers alike. I believe Rod will get the personnel he wants, and he has a lot of options to work with. Goaltending and overall team health will be the deciding factor against the Rangers and beyond.
