Number of times this year that the Canes have had X wins in their last 10 games:

7 - 3
6 - 24
5 - 19
4 - 3
3 - 1

The 3 and 4s happened over a 5-game span in early November. That led immediately into the 7s when we bounced back. Every other day of the season, there has been either a 6 or a 5 in our L10 wins column.

Related: our only streaks of 3+ games, either winning or losing, happened before Thanksgiving.

That is incredibly consistent in its slightly-above-averageness.
But how many times this season have the Canes had X wins in their last Y games?

Z, where Z=Y-X

Related:

If Canes have played # of games B, where U = home games and f = road games, and they have won A and lost L and had OT losses O, we can perform a Lagrangian analysis of win/loss ratio s and goal differential r which results in a solution U giving us derivative C(k), a total function which explains the total dynamics of the NHL in a given season.

Proof:

B = [(U+f)f/A*L]O {s->A,B}E-r/s|S[(U)C(k)]

I was told there'd be no math....
This is what I thought when I went to the public economics lecture. But then the professor started press on us how he can find the point where the growth is strongest on his graph and I flashed hard back to my high school maths lessons knowing he would pull out the derivative.
