I am honestly a bit weirded out on that impact because it looks like it is the shinguard part that slams into the goalpost, I get that the speed is viscous but I'm still surprised he fractures a bone through the shinguards.

News out of Tampa already today had Stevie Y considering using an emergency call up to bring Drouin back up from his junior team. Is this possible? Why wouldn't the league just say.... Call someone up from your AHL squad?

Edit: Looked into it and it doesn't seen like it would work.

Lol wut ? There is such a thing called an emergency call up ?

Even if there is, no chance the NHL allows it. They will make them call up an AHL dude

I didn't even realize Brett Connolly is with Tampa, I thought he's still in the AHL. Is he playing bad or something?

Connolly for Larsson seems to pop up on the trade board at least once every few weeks. apparently he is still really good, just not on the roster. iunno

Yeah, it only applies to leagues affiliated to the NHL so juniors are ineligible. I've only seen it used for goalies. Usually it's done to exceed the roster limit when a player gets hurt, but not seriously enough to go on IR. I don't see why they would need to use emergency recall since Stamkos is going to go on IR. My guess is they just think Drouin is their best option and Yzerman tried to pull a fast one.

I worded my question wrong. I knew there is a emergency call up, but i was wondering if there was one for a player in juniors.

Igor Larionov (who also trained Loktionov) flying to Edmonton to give them a nice tongue lashing.

I would totally deal one of our stud D-Men not named Larsson/Gelly for Yak. But it won't be enough.

They'd want Henrique and more.

I think they would do Henrique + Greene for Yak+Hemsky. I know I would pull the trigger.

Zubrus - Zajac - Jagr
Yak - Elias - Hemsky

Henrique is more valuable to the franchise than a flight risk and a UFA.

Henrique puts butts in the seats. He's our most popular jersey outside of Marty. He's the future marketing face of the Devils. Probably a future captain.

Yak wouldn't be any of that. He runs the risk of getting scratched nightly. Pete would need to be fired before the trade and that's not happening.

Henrique and Greene for Yak and Hemsky is a loss for both sides.

Yeesh, I don't know if you can trade both of Henrique and Greene. They're too integral to the fabric of the team, and after an off-season of dramatic personnel shuffling, I don't see any way Lou does that.

IMO Henrique best case would be ~50 PTS playing in all situations which I think is very valuable. I think Yak potential is 35+ goals a year.

I doubt he jumps from not being an 'A' to a 'C' once Sal retires. Zajac/Greene would be next in line at the moment. IMO the future of this team (if we don't trade or sign anyone) will be our defense+goalie (Larsson, Merrill, Gelinas, Sverson, and Scheider).

There is zero chance he gets scratched. Yak would be an idiot if he didn't' work his butt off if he gets traded plus going to a team with actually leadership would be great for him.

You have to improve the team any chance you get. I think Yak/Hemsky over Greene/Henrique would do it. Trade is obviously unlikely to happen since it would be stupid for the Oilers to trade him at now when he his value is so low.

Yak is getting scratched on a team that doesn't value defense. He would be crucified here.

I think Adam is a no-brainier future captain here. Ahead of Trav even. Give him 3-4 years.

That trade makes no sense for either team and I think EDM walks away winning, bringing home a good ok' Canadian boy who works his ass off.

He is getting scratched because he is a goal scorer has 4 points in 17 games. He has to play on the top line because of his 1-way play and the Oilers have Hemsky and Eberle.

I doubt Pete would scratch him since we lack Left handed goal scorers.

I don't get why people cap Henriques potential at 50 points. He hit 51 as a rookie playing limited minutes alternating between top and bottom 6 in 74 games. To say his best case is his rookie year is foolish. Will he ever hit 60, 70, or 80? I don't know but I have a hard time buying his top potential being his rookie season.

Yak is a true ONE-DIMENSIONAL player.

If that "one-dimension"(Scoring) isn't working, then he's about as useful as Jay Leach on this team.

Look at who we're talking about here - Pete Deboer. The Devils were lacking impact D-Men and he buried Larsson on the bench (a former first round pick). The Devils were lacking strong forward play and he buried two former first rounders on the bench (Teddy and Josefson).

He doesn't care. He would sit Yak for not playing defense. He says Loktionov one game because Loktionov messed up on ONE play.

Pete has no patience with kids. Trading away Henrique (who he has faith in) for Yak would be a downward move for our immediate future. You can't trade Yak here and expect him to pot 35 goals. Not in this system.

He will never center Kovy and Parise again. He didn't play limited minutes between top and bottom. He played the majority with Parise and Kovalchuk. #1 line mate was Parise #2 was Kovy. And he was the #2 linemate for both Kovy and Parise. That year Kovy put up 83 points and Parise put up 69 PTS.

He is by far the most overrated Devil.

Larsson actually had competition and this year started off like crap.

Teddy and Josefson aren't former #1 picks and they lack scoring ability. Yayo has 6 goals in 96 games . Teddy has 10 goals in 113 games. Yak has 19 goals in 65 games.

Pete was more than willing to play Larsson a bunch when he was a 19 year old rookie. He was also willing to play Matteu a bunch to start last year and he looked like crap.

Two things

(1) I think it's ridiculous to ignore his all-world linemates. You have every right to be skeptical and wonder if he'll ever duplicate his rookie season.

(2) I think it's ridiculous to even imply that he will "never" approach those point totals. There is still a ton of development left in Adam Henrique. If you're willing to give Yak the courtesy of a slump/growth/youth then Henrique deserves it as well.

So the Devils trade Henrique and Greene for Yak and Hemsky. Yak lines up with Elias and Hemsky. The line struggles initially. Who do you think Pete blames? Wouldn't Yak have competition with Josefson, Tedenby, Gionta, etc..? He would fall into the same boat if he even remotely struggled. He's a kid. Of course he'll mess up but Pete will punish him for it.

Teddy and Josefson aren't former #1 picks and they lack scoring ability. Yayo has 6 goals in 96 games . Teddy has 10 goals in 113 games. Yak has 19 goals in 65 games.

I'm sure Yak wouldn't be potting 35 goals in this system. I'm sure if Kovy, a far more polished and established scorer, struggled to score here a 19 year old kid wouldn't magically translate his game here. This system is not conducive to Yak and I don't think you're giving that enough credence.

"Willing" or "forced"?

Yak just turned 20 in Oct and Henrique will turn 24 in Feb. I won't be surprised if Yak passes Henrique in career goals this year (19 v 32).

It isn't easy to score 50 points in this league that would be around the top 100. Henrique would be very valuable at 50 points and it is a high potential. Henrique last 59 games he has 23 points. So double his current production.

Yak >>>>>> Gionta, Teddy, and Josefsson.

I think a skilled goal scorer is exactly what this system needs. Last season was a fluke for Kovy. He had a 6% shooting percentage for 5on5 play. The previous season it was 10. The 5 year average was like 15%.
