I count myself among the people who didn't exactly feel reassured watching Darling in the preseason. however, at some point the numbers are the numbers. and if he gives anything close to those numbers this season, I'll stfu about him until further notice.

maybe he's just an indigestion type of goalie. you feel nauseated about it, but you never end up vomiting, so it's no harm no foul in the final summation.

edit: huh, TIL the acronym for shutting tf up is filtered.

Okay so we will expect Slavin’s play to carry over into the regular season. Looking forward to seeing him put up 164 pts this year.

Also I so hope Darling isn’t held out long or that this injury nags him the rest of the season. He worked his ass off this summer. He just seems poised for a rebound year, and it’s gonna be one of those feel good stories.

More of a possible redemption story than a feel good story. He isn’t Kessel coming back from a cancer diagnosis. He spent an offseason eating McDonalds because he thought he made it, he f***ed up and needs to redeem himself.

Ain’t no paying Season Ticket holders from last year feel good about him wasting their entertainment $$.

One of the first ways that I will evaluate how HCRB is doing is how soon he can get the kids up to speed. Looking at the schedule for October we have 7 games where we have a reasonable expectation that we should at least get a point (NYI x 2, NYR, CBJ, VAN, DET, & COL) and 5 where it will be more difficult (MIN, WPG, TB, SJ, BOS.) After watching the preseason I am a little less concerned with our goal tending once we get the defensive parings settled as they did a great job at times making life difficult for teams to score. I am hoping yesterday was an aberration for the discipline for the kids but they could be growing pains. We start off with four games where I believe we would be favored in three of them so it would be a great time to get that worked out before we have more difficult games later in the month. Getting off to a good start is almost necessary for the Hurricanes because we can see the team is improving but their seasonal margin for error is very small.

Burnside's article does once again hint that Rod was a bit limited as an assistant coach.

“That was really hard for me. To sit on my hands and kind of just this is how we got to do it because that’s how they want to do it. Not that they were right or wrong or anything, but now I don’t have to worry about that. I can go up to anyone anytime. If it’s a defenseman, if it’s a forward or goalie, I’m not intruding. I really enjoy it so far. We’ll see. We haven’t really started.”

And it sounds like it wasn't overlooked by the players.

“I love Rod. I think you couldn’t find anyone that doesn’t like that guy,” said current Carolina defenseman Jaccob Slavin. “I mean, I think he’s just one of the most genuine guys you can find. As a coach, obviously as an assistant he didn’t have as much reins as he probably would have liked, but he was being respectful of the head coach.
That’s just how Rod is.

“He is who he is. I don’t think his role’s going to change. He’s still going to be one of the hardest working guys in the locker room. He’s still going to have respect for everybody around him. But I do think he’s going to bring a mentality that wants more from everybody all the time, which is good, which is what we need.”

Also some great quotes from Hedican, Kevyn Adams and Rutherford (who said if he had remained GM for the team, Brindamour would have been his next choice for head coach).

That certainly does help fill in the gaps from Dundon’s “I expect people to actually meet and listen to each other” comments. It sounds like top-down decision making was a feature of the prior regime.

I somehow got tagged in a oilers thread im assuming by accident. If you want to go take a look they have taken several of our comments from yesterdays game day thread and are taking turns crucifying Faulk lol its pretty interesting.

I swear that CO guy is borderline psychotic. I like his comment about "those are the same posters that jump into threads...", when pretty much no one quoted even ventures into the trade threads, and when they do, are incredibly reasonable.

I try to stay off the main board and other teams boards as much as possible. Just not worth it most of the time. I'll occasionally read threads there but most of the time it's just an echo chamber and shitposting. I mean you can probably say the same thing about our board but at least it's our echo chamber.

Hey, guys.

I was just posting some of your comments about Faulk because a few Oiler fans want to trade for him.

I posted them because I do not want the Oil to make that trade. I quoted your posters because I thought their opinions were valid. Certainly not to belittle.

As for the rest, I think they are just having a little fun with him because of his reaction. They are generally good folk.

Well, at this point they are antagonizing our boy, and it's due to your cross-post, so...instead of coming over here and encouraging us (him) to ignore it, why not encourage them to knock it the f*** off?

The poster in question has been openly hanging on F26, liking and been liked in the like thread.

They had a mole in Undercover Brother; I guess we shouldn't be expected to be safe.

You really think they will listen to me? lol

They will just ignore me.

My post is not why they are teasing him. Surely you see that.

That being said, I will try. I'll take some heat for your boy ;).
