As much as I like them both, I could see one or all 3 of Wallmark, McGinn, and/or McKegg (although McKegg is a UFA) shipped out along with Faulk as part of a package for that higher talent player. As of right now, however the lines look like this:

McGinn/Aho/Williams
Niederreiter/Staal/Teravainen
Svechnikov/Wallmark/Foegele
XXX/McKegg/Martinook

Slavin/Hamilton
Pesce/Faulk
de Haan/TVR

If/as the team continues to play well, the potential that somebody nobody wants to see leave might not have to go. If Ferland isn't re-signed, then you need to keep some grit....McGinn, Foegele, and Martinook bring that as well, but is it enough....and is it enough to keep them on the squad if a more talented player surfaces.

Speaking of talent, the previously mentioned Saarela, Gauthier, Necas, Geekie, or even Roy will all push to make the big club. On the back end, Jake Bean and Roland McKeown are both likely NHL ready. And what about a guy like Poturalski or even Patrick Brown (who has shown up well this post season). The key point is that there's potential, but you never know what you have until actual game play.

In the end, I think Svech and/or Nino will be on the top line as a wing, the other ends up next to Jordan on the 2nd line. McGinn is probably better suited on the 3rd/4th line. McKegg is likely signed by another team. So your bottom 6 is likely some combination of Foegele, McGinn, Wallmark, and Martinook, leaving a couple of slots for a Checker (or two) and/or a scoring 3rd liner (a Brett Connolly type perhaps?).

I guess all of this represents good problems to have, but some might not feel we're doing enough to upgrade our offense.
That lineup to me is still begging for a second center that pushes Staal down a line.

Don Cherry has done nothing but help the Canes with his rhetoric. Canes already had an "us against them" mentality and the Bunch of Jerks just helped re-enforced it. The more he spews, the more the team and the fans get into it. I think it's great.

I don't disagree but I still reserve the right to call him an old worn-out racist ****piece anytime I want

I mean I think you are right. All he's doing is playing an act for the xenophobic Canadian fan who feels threatened by anything American but at the same time he knows this is also bolstering up support in an area that was long depressed. If anything, by being a raging asshole he's growing the game, which isn't a bad thing. But at the same time, he's such an asshole about it that there is no way this is his plan. His producers, absolutely, but they're just taking advantage of the rantings of an old senile racist piece of shit for their own benefit.

Who else is going to nuke Marchand when he slwefoots or elbows Svech in the head? Because you know that's exactly what's going to happen.

Mark it down. First thing Marchand does is go after Svech, Slavin, or one of the Finns.

We already dealt with and took care of Tom Wilson. The team is ready for someone like Marchand. In fact, I think we are best equipped to deal with it. Slavin has too much situational awareness to let it happen to him and we have proven capable of winning without Svech or the Finns so good luck trying to target them, it only makes us better.

The thing about Marchand is that we have several guys who could knock his ugly mug off his shoulders if they get pissed enough. The same couldn't be said for Wilson. Also, we can run Pastrnak or Bergeron in return and they can't do a damn thing about it. I mean Chara can try but that will make him suck more than he already does right now.

I think Boston to be honest. I think Cbus is us, just more talented throughout the lineup.
Agree, but I think we have an extra gear, so to speak, that Columbus doesn't with the way that Brindy has had them train and play all year. I said this against Washington, but those windsprints we called games back in October and November where we were flying and putting up 50-60 shots are really paying off in the playoffs where we just slowly take over games to the point where we dominate pretty much every 3rd period. And now we're resting up.

My opinion, I think we would beat Boston easier than most would expect, and we'd beat Columbus in a tough series, but one where we don't really give up control. You saw how good this team is when they had a little rest against NYI, and their defense and goalie were stellar this year. I have a feeling the ECF could be eye opening to those who still think this Canes team is just on a fluke run. They're legitimately good.

We deserve to be where we’re at, though we could’ve easily lost the last game against the Caps. I don’t know that I agree with have an extra gear over them, and that it’s a Brindy thing. Torts is what Brindy wants to be in ten years, they preach the exact same thing. We will have fresher legs but historically extra time off doesn’t help anyone in the playoffs.

I think the Islanders were overachievers ran out of gas, and that we are probably the same thing with just a little more gas in the tank. Cbus can put the same pressure as us and has more talent to turn plays. Our chemistry that has developed over the last couple of months is what maybe makes up for the skill difference. The tic tac toe play to TT never could’ve happened for us earlier in the season. Our guys have eyes in the back of their heads for each other right now. We would really need that.

I think we can pin down Boston’s d better and break them down. Though I think their first line has always been tough for us to pin down.

Listened to NHL Radio on the way in to work and they were talking about our series with the Isles and they basically said that if you follow advanced stats and Corsi, you shouldn't have been surprised that the Canes swept the Isles, as it was basically a 1 vs 16 puck possession matchup, and it played out like that on the ice. I mean sure, those first couple games were tossups but that had a lot to do with the fact we were exhausted and they were rested, and you saw what happened when we had that extra day between Games 2 and 3. We steamrolled them the rest of the way.

Plus, if we get Cbus, we also get home ice, and that is clearly a huge advantage for us in a series.

Columbus please. Thanks. That home ice advantage could/would be huge for us. Also, I don't dislike many hockey players but Marchand is a king f***er. If I could watch a healthy Ferland drop a nuke on him that would be worth it.

It's kind of interesting to look at the analytic predictions compared to the analysts/fans picks. Dom Luszczyszyn of the Athletic runs a model that had us at 60.7% chance of winning the series vs the Isles He also had this to say about it
"If not for the first round the odds listed here would be even further in Carolina’s favour. Based on their expected strength going into the playoffs, my model would’ve figured the Hurricanes to be two-thirds favourites to win, a figure that would’ve likely had an angry mob outside my house
It was pretty lopsided on here and from analysts leaning towards the Isles that I saw.

His model also had us at a 50% chance to beat the Capitals while everybody had us losing that series

He's had a strong rookie year. Let's hope he continues on that development arc and takes the next step in 2019-20. I'm looking forward to seeing him explode on Chip Alexander and start raining down F-bombs in the middle of a presser.
