New species of coral discovered in Farallones (off coast of Northern California/SF)

The white object standing almost straight up is the newly discovered species of coral found on the sea floor of the Greater Farallones National Marine Sanctu ary by Gary Williams, a curator at the California Academy of Sciences. He named the coral Swiftia farallonesica in honor of its home off the coast.
