Don't we usually do this after the season?

There's going to be a lot of bias towards Jaskin at the moment. He's a great prospect, and maybe he does deserve to be #1 (though I voted for Ty Rattie), but I don't think the timing is very good for doing an unbiased poll.

I could have put Allen, but I figured he's in the NHL full time now. Theres only a "rule" really for rookie of the year, not classifying someone as a prospect.

I voted for binnigton because I think while hes the highest risk, its very hard to develop goalies, he also could become a very good starter if this season is any indication, and he can handle big minutes

No, I'm talking about the "rule" that Hockey's Future employs to define who is a prospect.

If we're going to do this year to year, its nice to have as much consistency in the definitions as we can. (And yeah, Jake Allen is still a prospect.)

I guess we're extending the half-assed rule to our prospect polls now.

My vote would be to delay the traditional off-season prospect rankings to...the off-season. Its usually used to fill the dead time from the playoffs to the draft. Right now, there is a playoff lead-in going on, and no shortage of topics for conversation.

Of course, its just an unenforceable board tradition. We could to a prospect ranking every week if we want.

If the poll is being conducted on HF boards as to "prospects" then Tarasenko and Schwartz are still prospects, as is Allen.

One reason we typically wait til the offseason is it gets boring then! Right now there's plenty to talk about.

Whats the harm of doing one now? Like I said, I just wanted to get everyones opinions on players not in the NHL, not an official ranking.

But hey, I guess opinion counts. I'll just do it in the offseason.

People could just post their top 10. A series of polls takes time and that's why we do it in the summer because there is nothing else to talk about.

This seems like a poll setup to hype up someones new favorite player to be honest. Since 3 "prospects" by HF standards are not even options.

Yeah not long back in the prospects thread I posted my prospect rankings, and I wouldn't mind seeing others. I wasn't objecting to any more than 91, 9, 34 not being included. Cole finally graduated.

You'll get more healthy debate in the offseason. I put Jaskin only behind 91 and 9 fwiw.

For me is Allen is still a prospect I have a hard time not picking him due to the positive impact he has already had. Other then that I have Rattie and Jaskin pretty close. I really have a hard time picking one even though I do think Jaskin is the safer pick due to having NHL size.

It's all good... I see no harm in it. All the junior and college seasons are over. A little change of pace.

In your poll, I'm going to have to go with Jaskin as a frontrunner, while strongly considering Rattie's and Binnington's repeat performances and also the packages Edmundson and Hakanpaa bring. Jaskin's size and skill along with the dominant performance to back it up puts him ahead of the pack in my opinion. I see him as a legit top six guy down the road that could put the Blues over the top.

I voted for Jaskin. Allen is certainly still a prospect (even at the end of this season). Rattie is less ready at this point in time than Jaskin, and Jaskin has a better all-around game.
