It would be nice if you added what they used to have. If there is reasons you know they can't use their old numbers, I think it would be nice if you added that. I know, demanding. :)

Why is Jones changing from 3 which he’s had since junior in Portland and 2 nhl stops to #4 now?

Id be surprised if Eberle doesn't go back to 14
He's sticking with #7. The six Kraken I have listed were at the Expansion Draft wearing their new jerseys.

If Arvidsson is taking 33 for LA then Bjornfot is also getting a new number.
Thanks, I'll add Bjornfot to the OP. The source for that is NHLNewNumbers on Twitter. They are pretty reliable and did tweet that Bjornfot is changing his number.

Are Seattle's official though. They could be just what they went with for the ED reveal.

Pretty sure, yeah. The six players have been wearing the jerseys at different events in Seattle over the past few days as well.

You really think they'd bring out the new players, organize a big event to unveil the new jersey, only to have a player change the number afterwards? No chance. All the players would have been asked what number they want to wear for the upcoming season.

was Pierre Pilotte not #3?
Older fan so I recall when Dave Manson wore it for the Hawks in the 90’s. The players whom the number was retired for I didn’t see them play. Must have forgotten about it since I remember Sopel wearing 3 in Vancouver and 5 in Chicago but figured that might have been a preferred number since he didn’t take 3.

They only retried #3 in 2008, so Manson was able to do that. Sopel joined the Hawks in 2007, but they may have not let him wear it then; I can't say for certain.

The last player to wear #3 for Chicago was Bryan Berard in 2003-04, but for some reason he switched to #4 mid-season or vice versa... Does anyone have more info on that?

Pilotes number wasn't retired until 2008.

Magnuson (tragic death) was retired the same night, as he wore #3 after him. Cant remember why Berard switched mid season, considering the number wasn't going to be imminently retired.

I found the answer.

One final note on Berard: in the featured photo for this article, he’s wearing No. 3. During that season, Blackhawks legend Keith Magnuson died in a car accident. Out of respect for Magnuson, Berard switched to No. 4 for the rest of the season, and Magnuson’s No. 3 was not worn again in Chicago before the team retired his number in 2008.
Former Blackhawk of the Week: Bryan Berard

Magnuson died on December 15, 2003. Berard's final game with #3 was four nights earlier. The next time Berard played was on January 2, 2004, and he was wearing #4.
