Replacement Salarys

Hi,
A number have suggested that according to the last NHL offer the league would have to have a salary average of $1.3 million per team (the salary range). Two points to think of.

1) However, since replacements would be on entry level contracts, capped at $900 K, team wouldn't meet the salary base!

2) The REAL last proposal was to accept the NHLPA latest offer and wait until the 4 triggers are reached! So no CAP, no BASE either ... maybe Gary B is smarter than we all give him credit for.

but would these players not still have there "green card" with them? What if they were just honoring their existing contract with the team? Would this not qualify them? i mean BONK is still living in Ottawa and practicing is he illegally living here then?
You only got a US "green card" once you applied for and became a leagl immigrant. very few players do that.

The contract is immaterial. If you are a foreign national you have to get a work permit to allow you to work pursuant to that contract.

As long as Bonk is only practising and not being paid by the Sens then he is not working and could be here as a visitor. I would assume his lawyer/agent has kept his immigration documentation up to date.
