Will Blackwood turn in to something good? Or is it to early?
I'm waiting for the number retirement sometime soon and the HOF induction.

A few people here tried to convince me it wasn't our goalies and that it was impossible to have a league average save percentage here.

While I do think he's overachieving a bit, I'm having fun beating my chest and think I just broke my knuckles and breast bone.

As I've said though, I think he's on a hot-ish streak to make up for how bad he was. He clearly isn't as bad as his first 9 games and I don't think he's as good as his last 8 or whatever many games it is either.

Or

And hear me out here

He was hurt for a long time, and now he's not anymore.

If you don't believe me, watch any of his early season games, and watch his more recent games, and notice how he moves a lot better.

He's definitely been better than earlier in the year, no question.

He looked like Ron Tugnutt coming out of retirement to play at 50-something years old his first 9 games.

Color me skeptical he'll ever be an average goalie again, unless it's as a sparsely used backup though.

If you don’t think MBW is worth watching you are missing out.
Guy is the greatest of all time. The number goes into the rafters sometime before the year ends and he'll be in the HOF next year.

Seriously though, I feel bad saying this, because I almost feel like I'm mocking him and underselling him, more than mocking the ''It's impossible to have league average goalie'ing here because our D is awful'' meme.

He's exceeding expectations. I was afraid he'd get blown out today, just because he got scored on by the first shot (on a goal he had no chance on) and he's due for a blowout.

I was hoping to see him get the game at MSG, because I wanted him to get a game there, but it was also good to see him play against a tough offensive team and rise to the challenge.

Definitely not.

Most goals we allow aren't bad, the defense is just terrible, but they do choose to show up for Blackwood because they know he isn't as good as the always winning Kinkaid or Cory.

Can't you stop with the wisecracks and be serious for a minute?

So both goals were of the NO CHANCE variety.

Correct? Correct.

I wasn't looking for comedy. o_O

He’s a college aged kid playing behind an AHL team. He’s giving them a chance and standing up to some excellent offensive players. I’m happy to tune in to see if he takes the next step to develop consistency. I’m not suggesting he’s prime MARTY but he’s at least giving us something to cheer for compared to the dead end slugs like Lappin Pietilla JQ Agostino STAFFORD and the list goes on....

I think most rational ppl have been of the mindset that he isn't going to be the .925 goalie he was but he wasn't the .875 goalie he was either. I can see him being a .910-15 and that's fine enough for me.
