You have Langenbrunner over Parise?

The team has 6 HoFer or borderline Hofer. They would dominate.

.

You've got Broten, Sundstrom, and Lemieux playing the wrong positions they played mostly when they were with the Devils. Parise and Gomez leave a bad taste in my mouth so I left them off my list.

Elias-Muller-Maclean
Shanahan-Holik-Lemieux
Broten-Arnott-Richer
Kovalchuk-Madden-Mckay

Niedermayer-Stevens
Rafalski-Driver
Daneyko-Kasatonov

I know there are a number of Devils throughout the 30+ years this team has been around that are deserving of being on this team... but I became a fan in 95... as far as chemistry a talent go, I think this team would win the cup.

How would they do in today's NHL? I know one thing that Stevens would be giving almost his entire paycheck to the league office in fines after his Shanahan calls.

Depends entirely on the rules you make for how to create the team.

Best players ever to play for the Devils? Stastny, Shanahan, Mogilny, Kovalchuk, Fetisov, Larionov all make it. Probably, anyway, I don't know without taking a closer look.

Best players while in a Devils uniform? Very different team.

Best seasons by Devils? Again, very different team from the previous two.

I think in terms of lines, sometimes, which would produce something like:

Elias - Arnott - Sykora
Pandolfo - Madden - Langenbrunner
Peluso - Holik - McKay

Those three lines immediately become the core of the team.

The last line gets harder, because there are so many good options. I've already used Elias and Langenbrunner, which negates Elias - Gomez - Gionta and Parise - Zajac - Langenbrunner, but there's still other terrific lines from the team's history, for example:

Johnson - Sundstrom - MacLean
Parise - Zajac - Kovalchuk

Back in 2012, using the strict rules I use for coming up with all-time teams, I produced this roster:

Classic Devil's Rules for All-Time Teams
(1) You're picking seasons, and you can only have one player from any season (e.g. you get only one player from the 1999-2000 season, only one player from the 1987-1988 season, etc.)
(2) You can only use a player once (e.g. you can't have Elias in every LW slot, no matter how tempting that sounds)
(3) You can only have one player per number, and the number you use must be the one they're most remembered for wearing (e.g. Elias has to wear 26, Zubrus has to wear 8, Brodeur has to wear 30, Shanahan has to wear 11; for 23 you get Gomez or Driver, not both, for 17 you get Sykora, Kovalchuk, or Sundstrom, but only one, etc.)

#26 Elias (2005-2006) - #25 Arnott (1999-2000) - #89 Mogilny (2000-2001)
#9 Parise (2008-2009) - #93 Gilmour (1996-1997) - #22 Lemieux (1992-1993)
#44 Richer (1994-1995) - #17 Sundstrom (1990-1991) - #15 MacLean (1988-1989)
#11 Shanahan (1991-1992) - #16 Holik (1998-1999) - #21 McKay (1997-1998)
#10 Broten (1986-1987) - #19 Zajac (2009-2010)

#4 Stevens (1993-1994) - #28 Rafalski (2006-2007)
#3 Daneyko (1991-1992) - #27 Niedermayer (2003-2004)
#23 Driver (1987-1988) - #24 Salvador (2011-2012)
#29 Chambers (1995-1996)

#30 Brodeur (2002-2003)
#1 Hedberg (2010-2011)

A. Broten doesn't belong at center(although he did play center)...He was Muller's LW and that is were he racked up all his points with NJ. Bobby Holik is number 5 ALL Time Devils leading scorer. He CLEARLY belongs in the center position above even Scott Gomez.

Along the same lines, Bruce Driver is the 10th Leading Scorer in Devils History He belongs to be on that list over Fetisov, Kasatonov and Albelin. Fetisov and Kasatonov don't even belong on that list, Joe Cirrella and Ken Daneyko do...

Other notable misses that should be on ANY all time Devil list...

1. Pat Verbeek 6th ALL Time Goal Scorer in Devils History.
2. Zach Parise 9th All Times in points and 4th All time in Goals
3. Ken Danyeko All time leader in Games played and Penalty Minutes
