Fail.

It's called the acquisition of Brayden Schenn forcing Brent Benson down to the Blades third line, and into a new checking role.

Benson has done a great job at both ends of the ice, despite a lengthy goal scoring streak (ended a 14 game drought last game against Edmonton).

And hell, the guy isn't going to get drafted because of his offensive abilities. Benson WILL be drafted because he has a high end motor, is very good defensively and can fill a number of different roles to a tee.
I have only seen Benson live a few times this year and a few times last year....but have seen every game he has played on the tube/web over the last 2 years.
The only way someone could write this "falling" dribble is if they "scout" from a scoring summary!

There is no way I would touch Biggs with a top 10 pick in this draft.

Because he's a very projectable player. Big body, solid skating, solid hockey smarts, solid hands. He's a pretty safe pick and has looked good against college teams.

He's right where he should be (he could be even higher).

Some think that he could be power forward others project him only as checker at NHL level due to limited offensive instinct/hockey sense.
I personally think that his hockey sense is hardly average.

Nermark back in the top-30, has he really shown something new during the last month? Interesting to see him and Rask so close to each other in this ranking, both are centre forwards.

Last couple of weeks he's has produced over a ppg clip. Though i still hold him as a second rounder but with a good WC-18 then he can sneak into the first round. If i had the choice i would pick him over Rask.
In order (swedish fw):
Landeskog
Zibanejad
Nermark
Rakell
Rask
Boyce
Friberg
Sundstrom
Arvidsson

In a draft that's all over the map, I can see a team going for more of a "sure thing", even in the top ten. There's always one or more players of Biggs' ilk that gets selected relatively high in the draft even though their skillset doesn't scream "star."

Wow. Top 3 pick to very late first.

Why is Victor Rask falling so much?

Why is Victor Rask falling so much?

Slow development, demotion from senior team to junior team, and a below average performance at the latest international U18 tournament in Czech Republic might partly be behind the fall.

It’s interesting how both ISS and RLR were so high on Rask early on, but have since then changed their minds. Most NHL teams probably have a lot better contacts in Sweden than these two agencies, so one can only guess how his ‘real’ valuation has changed during the season. If it has, that is. He might've been in the 20 to 40 range all along.

Glad to see Catenacci sticking in the top 20, kid gets a lot of criticism for lack of size, and lack of high end scoring potential. In reality he has 100+ PIM, leads the team in scoring, plays PP, PK, and is the best player on both sides of the puck. Now realistically I don't see him going 20th, unless a GM is really high on him. I think he is a good pick around 25-30.

Huberdeau not in the top 30 before January is highly ridiculous when you consider Jurco (his team mate) been there since august...

If Grimaldi was 6'0'', I would argue for him to be 1st overall. Having said that, I don't see him going in the top 20 because he is Gerbe-small.

I don't get questioning his hockey sense really. He's got a great nose for the game.

That´s your opinion.
I have seen him on several occasion, drives the net hard, goes through checks, very hard shot but has showed me little hockey sense and not instinctive player at all in my opinion.

Nermark was completely invisible at Five nation U-18 last month in Czech.

Yes, I knew he was having an excellent season but I didn't know he had worked himself into the draft. I'm happy to see a good comeback story. I had no idea about the family issues. He has time on his side. I hope he makes the big show.

you are usually pretty spot on with a lot of your views of players Czech, but I will have to disagree with you here. I simply see a different player then you with Biggs. I think the kid has a ton of hockey sense, usually makes the right plays, knows how to use his body to his advantage, and really doesnt take dumb penalties either.

there are always too many stat hounds on here that dont understand how the USNDP really works, and how stats arent that relevant for these kids either. Biggs is the best power forward in this draft, and by power forward I mean a true power forward (young Keith Tkachuk mold).

I am surprised that he got ranked as high as he did, but he has so much to like with his game and his ability that he could very well be a top 10 pick and rightfully so.

I dont know how well he can perform offensively in the NHL, and that would be a valid discussion, but the hockey sense really is a no issue with me when talking about Biggs imo.

was once touted as a top 5 pick for last years draft, I made a thread about him a few months back, and I as well am glad to see him becoming a name of interest again. the kid was and is very talented, hopefully he has put it all together finally.

I would say your viewing sample is still rather small. You saw him compete in a couple of international events-correct? I'd hesitate to make an opinion on a player's future based soley on failures/successes in international hockey. I'll call it the Jani Rita factor.

My two cents:

Siemens has size, can skate and shoot but his puck moving ability is sub par at best. Can be a turnover machine.

If Grimaldi was Nugent Hopkins size there would be a different top 3 and maybe a different #1

Don't compare Ryan Murphy to Ryan Ellis, one can skate, one can't.

Bartschi isn't getting the respect he deserves.

Myles Bell is one of the more intriguing prospects ranked in the 1st.

Musil should go lower.

Oleksiak will continue to climb.

If RNH is picked first he could be the first 1st overall pick returned to junior in a long time.

Don't get to excited about this draft. None of the scouts are.
