There is a LOT of money in Epic Games. I have to be kind of vague about this for professional reasons, but Rein runs with a crowd that pretty much just buys whatever they want when they wake up in the morning.

I can only guess what all this means in terms on the on-ice product, but what if they could actually afford to spend near the cap at the start of next season? Get Semin on a 3-year deal, sign a decent FA defenseman and a top-6 forward to play with JStaal and Skinner and this team could be a very real contender.

I work in financial management, so these sorts of things strangely enough interest me to no end.

Forget touring the locker room, I'd like to sit in on some of these meetings.

Damn you win!
Damn... thats a lot of money and a lot of people invested to keep this team in this area and to keep it competitive. And when there are losses, it will be split so thin that it might not actually be AS bad a thing going forward as we originally thought.

Very good for the Raleigh area to now have 20 separate entities committed to keeping the Canes in town.

Anytime someone on HF suggests relocating this team, throw this in their face. Good luck getting 19 investors (mainly local) on board with that.

No kidding! This is ONLY good from a Canes fan standpoint... Now, over time I can easily see Karmanos giving up more and more of his owner share so that there is more of an anchor to the Raleigh area. No matter who the owners end up being in the future, Karmanos will always be remembered as the man who brought hockey to Raleigh and developed it here.

And with SO many corporations owning a part of the team, you have to figure that we're going to see more suits at games, which means more of the luxury suites used during regular season games, and maybe even start to see the Champions Club fill out a bit. That would be nice.

And now with Epic Games owning a part of the team, you have to wonder how quickly we'll see Canes tie ins with a few of their games...

Karmanos has been gradually cutting himself out of the picture at Compuware as he approaches retirement. The investment group he's assembled will give us some long-term assurance that the team isn't tied to his personal wealth and health. Look to Columbus as an example of how devastating it can be when a franchise's patriarchal owner passes away. That is still a slight concern here, but much less now than it was a couple of years ago.

It will never fill out in terms of butts in seats, because most of the Club is out of sight. Just about every team with club seating has this issue to some extent, particularly Florida right now. Even if it sells out, it will still look empty.

More a symbolic thing than anything I guess, but also if it worked similar to the Arsenal supporter's trust, the shareholders could elect a representative who would then have whatever privileges the other investors have (don't know what those are; regular meetings or whatever). A voice for fans in ownership basically.

Sounds like I should get a Kickstarter going haha.
