I'm enjoying the policing of other fans. I drop 3k on tickets and another thousand on merchandise and food.

For all the political talk we forget that we aren't rooting for Kovy at CSK right now. We're in America. Go crazy folks. Demonstrate whatever you want to. I'm not doing it. I don't care what the perception of our fan base league wide. This isn't high school. I don't care if we're voted best fans in the nhl by a random poll of random people.

Give me a break.

Either way it's going to be a phyrric victory at this point, either the fans will win the goal song and make a complete joke of themselves in the process, or the team will win and see fans desert in droves and our home-ice of the last couple years dissappear.

I don't really think the fans give a crap about "making a complete joke of themselves". They just want RRP2 back. That's the bottom line.

Besides, don't fans in general make complete fools of themselves anyway? You watch the fans on TV for example embarassing themselves just to get on camera.....you think they're thinking "Oh no! I need to behave" at that point?

If the Devils go back on the decision, theyre gonna have major egg on their faces after saying that they changed to song to stop the offensive chants. it will be an admission that they are allowing what they consider offensive chants due to fan pressure. I dont agree with them, but I cant see them going back on it

There was no "egg" on anyone's face then and there won't be one now. Life will go on and business will continue as usual.

Don't act like it will cripple the franchise or anything. Just give the fans *what they want* and things will continue smoothly. If not, be prepared for whatever happens afterward...

That was packaged different though...they claimed they took it away because of Glitter and him getting the royalties then brought it back when they supposedly worked out a deal where he wouldn't.

That's the other thing that's hilarious...there wasn't 1% of the public outcry the last time there has been this time (which leads me to believe it's more about you suck than the actual principle of having the long-time song). I understand Facebook and Twitter drive it to a large degree, but on the spot Opening Night when the majority of fans first realized the goal song had dissapeared they booed en masse. That response didn't need social media driving it and I don't remember that kind of reaction the last time.

I don't often post on here, but i feel like I should give my input on this one. Even though I agree that RnR2 should stay, they are clearly not going to continue this goal song. I voted for M@D The concert. I also suggested to them, to give us back our old goal horn from Continental airlines arena. If they are taking away our goal song then we should have our goal horn back.

Only thing I'll miss if they pick it is clapping along, which I always thought was kinda cool.. Maybe they can work in a beat so fans can clap.. Either way, bummed to lose our old song but excited to see what comes of it

If they change the goal song back, I can guarantee you all of these Facebook/social media posts will stay with the same ratio of 98% people thanking them and 2% being slightly annoyed.

There won't be any egg on anyones face. This is something that shouldn't have been and didn't need to be tampered with in the first place.

What some of you don't get is not everyone gives two ***** about being part of the second American Revolution, and are going to be more annoyed and dismayed over being dragged into what's essentially a political fight they didn't ask for by having to listen to boos when they want to celebrate goals.

I meant the booing of the goalsong was smearing the fanbase, not the 'you suck', although some people would argue that is too but I personally think crying about you suck is just PC behavior at its finest. I think if this booing goes on too long, mainstream media'll get involved and rip on the fans...you might even get some player doing that if he's testy enough.

That last part might actually BE the next step at this point...at least if someone upstairs reads the Red Bull letter posted earlier in this (or the previous) thread. I want to see what the response is, although it's hard to figure out where to draw the line over how many chants is too many since there's always going to be a handful of yahoos that go the 'you suck' route.

Agreed on all accounts. The sad part is of all the songs you mentioned, This Is Our House sounds the most like a goal song. I understand people want a Jersey band, but Howl just doesn't sounds like goal song in any way.
