ECHL, PHPA agree to five-year extension | News, Sports, Jobs - News-Sentinel

There are press releases on the ECHL site and the PHPA site, but neither gives any specifics. Both sides say it was a good negotiation, players got some increases in salary, new reserve clause for veterans, and better health benefits. Owners get cost certainty for another five years.

I imagine both sides will update their FAQ sections at some point with the relevant changes.

The FAQ sites always leave details out that regularly come into question by fans as the seasons covered by the CBA roll on. So if any members here get access to a full copy, I'd encourage them to share (within prevailing restrictions, of course).

I don't ever think either the AHL or ECHL allow that to be a)published or b) it's likely on the PHPA webpage, In fact, not many posters or insiders have even seen what the CBA is, what it entails, or even seen a league rulebook from either league, tbth, that's allowed to be published, much less seen a copy or have a copy on them at any given time. it's just a guideline that guards against lockouts, like the NHL did in 1994, and 2004, of which both leagues continued to operate despite the parent clubs not in session.

You might be surprised what useful information falls in your lap one day, HUTCH. Keep sitting down, just in case.

I know that from experience, JMC, even the Insiders that post here, we've asked what you're asking now, and they have even said it's not available for publication, even if you request it as a personal copy, you have to remember, the majority of us have experience at the AHL Level in the past, and even then, it's not as accessible, trust me.

Both leagues have the same union....

The league rulebooks are available on their websites.

A new five year Collective Bargaining Agreement will take effect July 1 and run through June 30, 2023. The weekly salary cap will increase from $12,800 last season to $13,000 per week for the upcoming season. For the duration of the CBA the salary cap will go to $13,300 in 2019-20, $13,600 in 2020-21, $13,900 in 2021-22 and $14,100 in 2022-23. If you figure 20 players on the active roster the average salary over the five years of the CBA will go from $650 per week in 2018-19 to $705 per week in 2022-23.

- Other dollar figures for the 2018-19 season include rookie maximum salary ($550 per week), rookie minimum salary ($470) and minimum salary for non-rookies ($510).
