Figured we would make a thread dedicated to all the number changes and new Sabres numbers.

Jack Eichel 15 -> 9
Zach Bogosian 47 -> 4

Rasmus Dahlin 26
Conor Sheary 43
Patrick Berglund 10
Tage Thompson 72
Jeff Skinner 53

Vladimir Sobotka 17?
Matt Hunwick 44/48?
Carter Hutton 40?

I can tell you one thing from doing these Sabres uniform number polls - players used to change their numbers a LOT back in the old days. I think it was due to using the jerseys on hand and no one having numbers higher than the 20's other than goalies. Richard Martin wore 8 & 9 before settling on 7, Robert wore 7 & 23 until he got to 14, etcetera.

Are those official?

Bergs should've gone 21

I know it's sometimes hard to remember that he's still on the team...

LOL! DJN21 pulled a "LaxSabre" - I made the same error in a post a month or so ago. Said Berg should be able to wear #21 - same number he wore as a member of the Blues - as its available on the Sabres. Totally forgot about Okpo.

As for being official - Jim Bob took care of Bogo and Thom. Haven't seen Berg rumored to be wearing #10. Shea should be #43 - its the number he wore as a member of the Pens and its free on the Sabres. Hutt should be #40 too - wore that as a member of the Blues and its free on the Sabres due to Lehn leaving.

Martin started in Buffalo as number #8, 71-72.

I believe Robert started as #23.

1972, Martin switched to #7, and Robert to #14.

During the 72-73 season Martin switched to #9, and Robert to #7.

Norm Gratton is acquired during 72-73 season of the double switch, and starts off as #14.

Punch Imlach doesn't like the "Karma" in the switches, and has Martin go back to #7, Robert to #14, and Gratton ends up with #9.

I don't remember my math or sciences, but this I do remember. Some records show Robert as switching to #23 when Martin took #9. I am almost positive that was not the case.

Is there any connection to the Development Camp roster and jersey numbers? It looks like at least some of the guys listed here are wearing what they have worn in the past in the regular season or at training camp.

If so, Pilut has #10 and Hickey #44?

According to the 1972-73 Media Guide Robert wore both #14 and #23 during the 71-72 season. No idea what number he wore for what games, or how many games he played in each number.

Also, looks like Ramsay wore #25 that year (which I knew) and Luce wore #14 (which I did not know).

Not necessarily, Mittelstadt wore #77 at the 2017 Development Camp

Some confirmations:

74 - Asplund
61 - Olofsson
43 - Sheary
53 - Skinner
33 - Borgen
26 - Dahlin
44 - Hickey
10 - Pilut
31 - Wedgewood

No Berglund, Sobotka, Thompson, Hunwick or Hutton yet. Paul Hamilton mentioned Bogosian with #4 today I think.
