Does anyone have a list of games, dates and scores from the neutral site regular season games the NHL had during those few years in the early 90's?

I went to two of 'em and can't remember who played :sarcasm: . In one of them I remember thinking scott niedermyer was the next superstar defenceman. In another Gartner either scored his 600th or got presented a silver stick for it.. for whatever reason i can only remember the rangers and the devils- not the other two teams or who played whom..

Where were those games? I only remember Calgary opening their season here in Saskatoon and for some reason Tampa and Chicago ring a bell, not that I went to either of those games.

These are the games involving Philadelphia ("home" team in bold) to my knowledge:

    1992-93
02/16/93 Flyers 4 vs. Calgary 4 at Cincinnati, OH
    02/22/93 Flyers 5 vs. Detroit 5 at Cleveland/Richfield, OH **
Brent Fedyk (Flyers) tied the game with 0.8 seconds to play.

    1993-94
12/31/93 Flyers 4 vs. Boston 3 at Minneapolis, MN
    02/02/94 Flyers 2 vs. Washington 5 at Cleveland/Richfield, OH

    1994-95 (Canceled work stoppage)
01/07/95 Flyers vs. Pittsburgh at San Antonio, TX
02/10/95 Flyers vs. Washington at Halifax, NS

Where did you find this list? I never knew that Phoenix, Colorado and Carolina were in the league in the mid 90s.

I remember the Canadiens-Nordiques game in Phoenix. One of my parents' friend made the trip down there to watch the Canadiens and Patrick Roy. It must have been strange to watch the great rivalry being played in the desert back then.

There was a game in Cleveland involving the Oilers and the Penguins, where the lack of video review equipment prevented the Oilers from scoring a legitimate goal. I can't remember exactly what happened, but I do distinctly remember the scenario.

Why were they played in neutral venues?

Well they did stuff in Japan to try to market the game over there.

As of the other places in the early nineties I think they did it as a way of increasing ticket revenue, but I could be wrong.

The games in the 1990s were used to test potential expansion cities. during those seasons, the league played 84 games, rather than 82 (so teams would still have 41 home games). Notice how Florida (Miami), Phoenix, Minneapolis, Dallas and Atlanta hosted games in that time?

As for the games in Japan, they started them in 1997 in order to build some interest for the Nagano games. I think that tour was successful so they went back a couple of times thereafter.
