Just finished Teenage Bounty Hunters and despite the title, it was an excellent show. Both title characters are likeable. Has Kadeem Harrison in it as the girls mentor.
Has some really funny moments and a great cliffhanger.

Unfortunately, despite great reviews, Netflix has cancelled it after only one season.

The Queen's Gambit is one of the most mesmerizing things I've seen this year. I've watched 4 out of the 7 episodes and never at any point do I feel like the show is dragging its feet. Anya Taylor-Joy's performance is so entrancing and the show manages to be slow-burning enough to give its characters their moments to shine, but still completely entertaining and not self-indulgent.

Very good indeed. Acting wise, I was really impressed by the "aging" of Beth (the casting from one actress to the other), and especially of Jolene (played by the same actress at both ages). It avoids being ridiculous, which is rare. Overall I was really pleased with the show, somewhat predictable, but nicely done and as you said, the pace is on-point.

Just been watching Hunters. The tone is all over the place and I'm not sure it's that enjoyable because of it.

Not a Netflix series, but not thread worthy.

Ethan Hawke plays abolitionist John Brown in this limited series on Showtime. Watched episode 1 and it's............crazy.

For some reason I started watching Wu Assassins. It's kind of a little like Iron Fist, trying to vacuum up some of Asia's fight films' magic, with a better cast, way better fights, but not a much better script. It's watchable enough for me to get through it.

(Started Lupin too with the gf - ok light hearted stuff, very short)

The Night Stalker documentary was very accurate and gave a sense of what it was like to live through those months. I was in HS and everyone in California was terrified. LA, SF, he was all over the state. Killed men, women and children. So many memories came back to me, as soon as I saw the lead detective, I remembered so much more than I did before.

Finished both. Lupin is a fun light watch and I'll watch Season 2 (not a lot of stuff I can watch with the gf anyway). As for Wu Assassins, not sure I agree with my previous comment. The cast ain't that good and acting hit some lows that made the already weak script sometimes cringe-worthy. The main villain's storyline is too simple, but Flanagan's pretty good and I appreciated how easyly he could have been the good guy if told from another perspective. I've read that it could have movie sequels - if I was to rate this as I do for movies, it wouldn't go above 2.5/10.

This site's overwhelmingly male, and that show is definitely watched overwhelmingly by women. Not too much crossover. No offense to any men that like it, I don't care what people like, if it makes you happy watch that shit!

Hey, I've been forced to watch many 90 Day fiances and after a bit I'm like, I have to see what happens with some of these idiots.

I'm on episode 2 and holy shit, this animal was murdering and raping every other day. Why did it take so long to catch him?!

Finished Fate - The Winx Saga. Seems it's loosely based on a cartoon called Winx Club. Seems the creators of the animation and people behind Vampire Diaries are behind this show and it shows. First three episodes felt like CW shows with swearing and blood. Some character and actors are not that interesting/good, some are. What kept me watching was the plot and it got better and better towards the end. By the season finale even the characters I didn't like were tolerable. The finale really went hard into expanding the plot and I'm now interested to see where this goes. If they fix the issues with characters and acting, this might become really popular. Also, I did not expect to hear the Forza Horizon 4 intro song during THAT scene in the finale.

The comment section is filled with references to the show and the scene so don't read if you don't want to get spoiled.

Zero mention of Bridgerton here?!

I watched the first episode and was as disappointed as I've been with any TV show in years.

Coming off Queen's Gambit and The Great, and hearing this one compared to Downton Abbey, I was expecting something a lot more substantial and at least a little more subtle about gender issues. There's something bordering on offensive in 2021 about women characters whose key personality traits are snarky superficial bitching about the gender limitations of their fabulously privileged lifestyle, while also worrying endlessly about pursuing conveniently rich, sexy men who are just beyond their reach. From a gender perspective, there's nothing to distinguish this story from an actual Victorian novel with an actual Victorian ethic.

There's also something unsettling about the fact that the Bridgerton universe appears to be drawn up without any reference to the existence of people outside the upper aristocracy. I mean, how can you have a show set in 1813 London -- including multiple scenes set in the public outdoors and showing wide-angle views of the streets -- and not even see an extra in the background who looks like they live an ordinary life? "We try to imagine history and the world in the way we wanted to see it" is an actual quote from the executive producer about the decision to include POC in the casting. Even granting credit for strong casting, apparently "imagining history in the way we wanted to see it" means wiping the entire concept of ordinary people out of the picture and focusing exclusively on the rich and beautiful and unimaginably privileged. Which is... not much of an improvement.

It's basically a Victorian 90210. There's a place in the world for frivolous TV, but this really isn't my thing and felt like a major missed opportunity to do something important with a social message that goes beyond "I need a man".

The costumes, scenery, and cinematography are really good.
