Read the first page and have to put in my 2 cents.

I don’t care on Thomas but people keep saying he doesn’t belong in the hockey hall of fame?!?

The NHL lets everyone and anyone into the Hall of Fame.

Jim Carey will eventually make it!

The USA goalie or the comedian ? if they let the comedian in.. then Thomas should defiantly make it.. lol

I like what the Calgary Flames do now.You get a banner with your number if your beloved but number stays in circulation. They have 2 numbers retired i believe before they went to that and those 2 banners are different. If Bruins went this root players like Thomas could be honoured or do a ring of honour.

Tuukka was better then Thomas that year, but TT was playing on a bum hip. Still impressive numbers considering he got surgery right after the season. That doesn’t diminish how good Tuukka was that year, but I think TT would have been better if he was healthy.

I think there could be a place for Thomas in the HHOF as a builder. His career arc is a great story and deserves to be recognized by the sport as a whole because was unprecedented. But he probably wont ever be considered because of the WH thing. Too bad but I doubt he cares

He didnt do enough with the Bruins to earn a number retirement though, especially because #30 isnt 100% 'his' number in the franchise history

Agree. But the reply was to a post that said TT was the best goalie on the planet in 2009-2012. Which is absurd.

Neely has bigger problems than retiring anther jersey.
His team is offensively challenged 5 on 5.
When Bergy returns they will have their one line again.

I love Timmy, but I don't want to be the Yankees where every person who played for more than 5 years and won a title gets their number retired. It's bad enough we've got all these rookies up here wearing numbers in the 50s and 80s.

Jersey retirement should be reserved for the best of the best. For this generation, only 37 & 33 are going up. Have special nights to honor Thomas, Krejci, March and, etc. in some ring of honor type thing, but we can't take every number out of circulation.

Where's the quadruple-like button?

Bruins have won six cups. Its only 5 without TT. I would have no issue with 30 going into the rafters based on that fact.

Well he won 2 of the 4 Vezinas in that time period.

Miller with one, Lundqvist with the other.

So he had two when no other goalie did. And a cup, and a Conn Smythe. Broke a few records too along the way. I'm not sure how the statement that he was arguably the best goaltender during time period is really that absurd.

It's not definitive, but there is solid case to be made. If it's not Thomas who else would it of been? I'd probably go with Lundqvist if not Thomas.

You started the time period with 2009, a year he wasn't even the best goalie on his own team. Simple concept, really. If you had narrowed it to 3 years starting in 2010, I wouldn't have replied

Maybe there is some confusion by 2009 do you mean the calendar year or the 2008-2009 season or the 2009-10 season?

Why are you going on about this? Tim Thomas was not the best goalie on the planet in the 2009-2010 season. To include that season in his supposed reign of dominance is absurd, because not only was he not the best on the planet, he wasn't even the best on his own team.

Answer me this then. Dominik Hasek won the Vezina in 1994 and 1995 but not in 1996 when he won just 22 games and his Sabres missed the playoffs. Then won it again in 97, 98 and 99.

So does that one off year disqualify him for consideration as the best goalie in the world over that 6 year stretch?

Because that is essentially what your saying about Thomas and the year he was playing hurt and a rookie Rask became the starter in late January.

No I do not think Tim Thomas was the best goalie in the world for a period of time that can be said to start with a season where he wasn't even the best goalie on his own team.

Agree to disagree.

Thomas is the best goalie in the history of the franchise. At the least he should be honored on a game night or something. They won't because of his political views. Same thing with the Red Sox not having Schilling throw out the opening pitch during WS.

Tiny Thompson, Frank Brimsek, and Gerry Cheevers are certainly arguable over Tim Thomas.

And I love Tim Thomas.

Perhaps, but no other goalie brought me as much joy as Timmah! He is a legend to me. His 2011 playoff performance has to be one of the best all time.
