The Odom firing is another example of a college program overrating their standing in the college football landscape. If competing for conference championships was their goal, then they shouldn't have jumped to the SEC in the middle of its heyday. Georgia and Florida weren't going to be down in the East forever.

Truth. But really, it has a world-class English Department, which is what matters.

Small sample but the #1 seed hasn’t won the National Championship Playoffs to this point.

2014 - #4 Ohio State (#1 Alabama)
2015 - #2 Alabama (#1 Clemson)
2016 - #2 Clemson (#1 Alabama)
2017 - #4 Alabama (#1 Clemson)
2018 - #2 Clemson (#1 Alabama)
2019 - ??? (#1 LSU)

Another trend going against LSU is they’d be the worst total defense to win a NC since the BCS era started. 2011 Auburn is the only team to win a NC in that time span being outside of the top 20 in total defense.

They weren't good enough to get into the B1G and joining the ACC didn't make any sense.

Texas sucks that much.

@flyershockey I know he’s been one of your if not the best recruiters over the year’s but this has to be awful for a HC hire right?

Pittman to Arkansas is a done deal.

Not sure if it will work out but for Pittman he likely gets a good bump in pay & a shot at being a HC at P5. If it doesn’t work out he’ll be pursued by the big schools to coach OL again. So worth a shot.

Pittman got himself paid. No doubt he'll be back as OL coach somewhere within the next 3 or 4 years. Rumors are swirling in Athens that he may try to take Dell McGee or Tray Scott with him. Unless they'r'e getting coordinator positions, they're not going anywhere. And if they do, it will be the most inexperienced staff in college football.

Arkansas just isn't a program that can compete in that division now that schools like LSU and Bama are adopting the high octane offensive philosophies. They could get by 15 years ago by getting enough size, but skill position shortfalls are going to be exposed more than ever.

Georgia fans are still holding out hope for Bobo to come back as OC. Two problems. 1. James Coley is still the OC and would need to be fired. 2. Bobo's not that good. He wasn't missed when he left Athens the first time, and I'm not sure how much he grew at CSU to suggest he'd be any better the second time around at Georgia.

Of course they were good enough to get into the B1G. They're good enough to play in the SEC. They're just not good enough to seriously compete in either conference.

I thought there were reports out there that Bobo’s headed to South Carolina?

I'm speaking of more than just football. The university itself, lack of research dollars to add to the CIC. Yes Mizzou is an AAU school, one of the lowest ranked schools with the distinction. For whatever reason, the B1G also didn't value the ancillary (because geographically Mizzou is in the middle of the state) tv markets of St. Louis or K.C.

More to the B1G than just athletics.

Out of Canada, picked them over Michigan, Iowa, & Georgia.

There’s been an influx of Canadian players but most of them typically move down to the States to play at some point before college. He actually finished his career in Windsor, ON, so his high school tape is funny with like the CFL like fields.
