Just wondering if there has been large uptick in goals per game in the NCAA or CHL league's this year, or if it the trend has been mostly isolated to the NHL?
Or maybe there was there already an uptick in recent years and the NHL was simply lagging in the trend?

Sorry I wasn't sure if there was someplace this was already logged.

Nothing in the data suggests as much

you take the total goals scored, and the total games played
for this season is is about 2.86 goals per game
last season it was 2.83 goals per game

there was 59 div 1 teams last season
there was 62 div 1 teams this season (addition of linden wood and others)

This season top team averages about 4.2 goals per game, (Michigan and Minnesota)
Last season top team averaged about 4.3 goals per game (Denver)

Last full season was 18/19 and the top team then was penn state at 4.5 goals per game

I dont screw with 19/20 & 20/21 data as it isnt accurate in any sense as it was weird covid divisions and all that.

And the new teams are bringing up the average while they get settled into D1. So ya, no noticeable uptick.
