I just saw this article on CNN that says NBCSN will be shut down at the end of the year and that some of the live sports coverage will move to USA Network while some is moved to the Peacock service.

NBC Sports Network to shut down by the end of 2021 - CNN

It doesn't give specifics on which programming will go on Peacock, so it may not affect Flyers games, but I'm really not interested in subscribing to that streaming service.

Has anyone heard anything else about this? Am I misunderstanding the article or something?

I already subscribe to peacock (for Premier League) but I think some things on there are free. Hopefully if they move hockey there that will be the case.

It would probably only be free if you have a cable provider, and stuff like YT TV doesn't count.

They leave me no choice but to not give them money.

Yeah, I think you’re right about that. I don’t like streaming services in general because I don’t like having to hunt around for the program I want to watch, but this certainly seems to be the direction the industry is headed.

FYI- I have Peackock Premium which is $50/year. According to their website Premier is free if your provider is Xfinity or Cox.

So I do know it’s free if you have Comcast Internet and do NOT have the tv. I use YouTube tv but have premium peacock due to having the xfinity internet

Just a quick reminder that the interface (or whatever you call it for streaming) on Peacock is absolute shit. They are shit. Massive, massive, massive piles of shit. I'm pouring a 40 to the ground and sending my blessings to all the hackers and whatyoucallits who dig into code or do analog shit or whatever it takes to scrap together streams. F*** you and the peacock you buggered in on. It's a pirate's life for me.

They have been systematically dismantling a great local sports news outlet for quite a while now.

This could lead to a casino or gambling site as the new name.

Sinclair who owns the Fox RSNs

Is rebranding them to Bally sports network and hope to incorporate live betting.

NBC might do the same.
