His advisors would be his agent. The person who gets a percentage of his paycheck. So it's not like his agent didn't have a vested interest either ...

Turning down the $107 mil deal I can kind of understand. I'm not saying I would have made it but I understand it. He was at the top of his game and clearly confident he could have another great season and demand even more. The odds of doing better he had to feel were decently in his favor IMO. But turning down the QO after the awful season he just had absolutely made no sense at all. The odds of getting something appreciably better were pretty darn low IMO.

I'm not a Desmond fan in any way as his poor defense and swing hard just in case you hit it approach at the plate drive me crazy so I'm fine with him leaving. But to have 2 bad contract decisions within a few years of each other and now be stuck playing left field for less than half his QO is pretty sad IMO.
