We currently have a huge question mark for our young but talanted defense and I believe this will have a direct impact on our offensive game as well (including MacKinnon).

I feel it's difficult guessing right now but I can't wait for the season to start. Also question marks for our new players, if they come out flying this may be a very fun season. Kadri should be fine/ok but we don't really know how Burakovsky, Donskoi and Rosén will fit.

MacKINNON, MAKAR CONTINUE MONUMENTAL MONTHS

Nathan MacKinnon (1-3—4) factored on four of five Avalanche goals and Cale Makar (1-0—1) netted his third game-winning goal of the season as Colorado was one of five teams to score at least five goals Friday.

* MacKinnon, who extended his point streak to six games with his third four-point game of the season, is one of seven players with at least 20 points since Nov. 1.

* November 2019 is one of five months in the last decade to feature at least seven players with 20 points in the calendar month – MacKinnon has played a part in three (Nov. 2019, Nov. 2018 and March 2018).

* Makar leads all rookies in points this season (8-18—26 in 25 GP). Only two other rookie defensemen in the NHL’s expansion era (since 1967-68) have scored at least eight goals through their first 25 games of their career: Brad Maxwell (8-5—13 in 1977-78 w/ MNS) and Barry Beck (11-10—21 in 1977-78 w/ CLR).

* The fourth-overall pick in the 2017 NHL Draft has also tallied three game-winning goals in 2019-20, tied with Aaron Miller for the most in a single season by a rookie defenseman in Avalanche/Nordiques history.

I've come to appreciate how smart Mackinnon is too. He sounds like an analyst when talking about the game.

This past month is as good as he's ever been. Just keeps on wrecking teams even with revolving doors on his wing.

I dont want to be too negative but....

I think he's peaked offensively. I'm expecting to see him in the 85-90 range this year and moving forward tbh. Hope to be wrong but I just think with the way scoring historically has went I think his 2 best years from an offensive perspective were probably these last 2 seasons.

35-40 goals and 45-50 assists is my expectation.

Technically Mack is behind his pace through November 30th of last year.

1.58 PPG through 26 games last year, 1.56 PPG through 25 games this year. So.... Mack just has to go get 3 points again tonight

What a freak of nature Mikko was last year through November. 43 points in his first 26 games.

Read through almost the entire first page thinking you all were crazy until I realized this thread was started in July.

Mack is a demi-god.

Would any avs fan actually trade him for Mcdavid?

In a fantasy world, yes. The the real world were the cap is real and MacKinnon is literally making 1/2 what McJesus makes and puts up similar numbers for the next 3+ years, no I'm keeping MacKinnon.

I love Mack and he’s incredible. But you guys are crazy.
Mackinnon is an Av through and through. He has a higher compete level than McDavid, and is a beast in the playoffs. The extra 15 points McDavid might score isn’t worth losing Mackinnon.

when you look at contracts, it’s also a no-brainer. You don’t trade Nathan Mackinnon for 15 more points at 2x the price. I know Mack is going to get paid big time on his next contract, but what do you think McDavid will get? He’s already at 12.5!

Mack>McDavid all day, every day.

Nah.. I wouldn’t have traded Sakic , Forsberg, orRoy for the best player in the league when they played either. These are the guys who just take their games to another level when it matters most.

Those 3 were all the best player at their position and the league at some point? Mack isn't. He's a great player, one of the best in the league no doubt, but he's still no McDavid.
