He only hit him because Hischier shot the puck at the goalie after the whistle. That's what you get for a dirty ass play like that. He tries it again next game and it won't be just a tap.

it is a spear, no matter how it looked like a "temporary issue" it could have taken him out. IF that happened, and Hedman was not suspended, the League is determining who wins series.

This must be looked at

That seems like classic Hedman really. Hes a top 5 defender in the league but he has a bit of a fake tough guy persona. He loves to do stuff like that to a rookie but if he ever got called to task by someone his size he isnt getting involved unless there is another Tampa player there with him.

Meh. He was even one of the Lady Byng nominees last season (finished #38). His game is more a gentleman's game in general. He rarely plays the body unless he absolutely has to (prefers stickwork and positioning) and you won't see much rough stuff outside of the occasional headlock or face wash to help out a teammate in a scrum. Which makes his "cup check" last night even more surprising.

Marchand was when he speared Dotchin last season, but that was a) MUCH harder, and b) like the 80th time he'd been suspended for something.

Hahaha, I thought that was the one thing that little weasel hadn't done. What a piece of shit.

As a a fan of the game, it's pretty disappointing to see Hedman pull a chicken**** move like that. As a Devils fan though, it's nice to see a bit of frustration on the other side.

Will people like you still whine about Hedman's spear 2 years later?

Probably not, but most people don't care about Hedman

No, Crosby set the precedent, others are just following suit. Hedman is trying to play hockey the Canadian way. /s

This is what happens when a fanbase defends a play by their guy and then comes on here and talks about the same type of play being dirty. When Crosby does it he's being gritty and standing up for himself. When marchand does it, he's a rat piece of shit. Now that Hedman has done it, he's a dirty player for life - and the people digging up some video from 2011... what a reach there.

Bottom line, the dops doesn't seem to give a shit about these plays. Should it be a suspension? Yeah. But they set the precedent by letting everyone who does this walk, except the guy who has a history as long as his nose.
