McDavid, Matthews, Draisaitl, Mackinnon, Crosby, Barkov, Aho, Kopitar, Point, Scheifele, Bergeron, O'Rielly. He's offensively better than some of those guys, but his defensive flaws bring his overall down for me. If he can get his compete level up and his 200ft game maybe he'll be a top 10 or even top 5 very soon, as of today I would say those guys are all better overall players than him.

Cap hits and contract are a non issue? Okay
Age is irrelevant? Okay

What about attitude and injury history?

1. McDavid
2. Mackinnon
3. Crosby
4. Matthews
5. Draisaitl
6. Barzal
7. Aho
8. Bergeron
9. Scheifele
10. Barkov

I'd probably put him around here.

12. Point
13. Kopitar
14. Zibanejad
15. Stamkos
16. Malkin
17. ROR
18. Tavares
19. Petterson
Etc..

McDavid, MacKinnon, Matthews, Crosby, Draisaitl, Barkov.

I'm not even sure if he's behind four of those players. I am sure, though, that Buffalo is a morale-sapping trainwreck.

Eichel's output relative to his teammates is absurd. McDavid and Draisaitl* are the only players that I can think of offhand who are comparable in that regard.

* Yes, I am aware they are teammates. Treat them as a set.

Seems awful bait-like

Yeah it's ok to think Eichel might be better going forward but after the two seasons they both had, it's not really a take in reality at this point to rank Eichel over Matthews. And I know Eichel played hurt but so did Matthews for about a month.

Barzal, aho and Scheifele over Barkov come on now, have a hard time putting Bergy over him at this point as well.

Hamilton
McDavid, Matthews, Barkov, Draisaitl, Mackinnon.

Hard to disregard age here, but as far as overall performance Crosby, Kopitar, O'Reilly, Aho.

Thats about it for me

McDavid
Mackinnon
Matthews
Barkov
Eichel

Honestly, Eichel getting to play with proper wingers could really see him surge even further up the list, his stats compared to closest teammates are absurd. Was near ppg this season with 75% of his body injured and you could really see it.

For the playoffs, or next season, I'd take these guys before Eichel:

1. McDavid
2. MacKinnon
3. Barkov
4. Draisaitl
5. Aho
6. Scheifele
7. Stamkos
8. Barzal
9. Malkin
10. Zibanejad
11. Point
12. O'Reilly
13. Bergeron
14. Miller
15. Kopitar
16. Bäckström
17. Seguin
18. Kuznetsov
19. Krejci
20. Couturier
21. Horvat
22. Suzuki

I have absolutely zero confidence in Eichel's ability to play winning hockey. Being an all-around-problem just oooozes from everything he does.

I haven’t figured out yet how far this season should drop him down my list yet. For now I’ll just pretend this season never happened and say...McDavid, Matthews, Mackinnon, Draisaitl, Bergeron, Barkov, Crosby
