Sad news. The service club I'm in organized an April Wine concert for charity almost 20 years ago and he seemed like a nice guy in the brief interaction I had with him. You also couldn't attend a hockey game in the 90's without hearing "Oowatanite". Great song.

Well that's a bummer.

Used to play Roller and Could Have Been A Lady in the last band I was in 2-3 years ago.

They put out an album in the early 90's that got some traction. Couple singles off that disc got put into rotation here on the local hard rock station.

April Wine was a staple of Canadian rock radio in the 70s and 80s. They were also the first band I ever saw live in concert as a teenager, so I always had a fondness for them. RIP.

from about 74 to 84 they were one of the biggest band in Canada. In 84 things went sideways in a very bad way and the usual troubles followed

Saw them in concert a few times and always enjoyed the show. He was a very good band leader.
