Who's Matthew Calvert?

Toronto can't afford to take a chance on Beach, their prospect pool is pretty weak in all areas.

Del Zotto is good, but Rutherford has publicly stated he's not taking a dman in the first.

Other than that, it seems to be good and looks like a good projection.

Calvert in the first! That's possibly the biggest reach I've seen in a mock so far. Montreal can do much better with that pick.

And Analyzer is right, Carolina isn't taking a dman in the first.

Mark my words, (not that you'll believe them) but Calvert will be a good NHL'er, small but fast and feisty and has great moves...hey it's my mock draft, did you expect me to follow the so-called experts and everyone else in here? :)

I thought Larsen or even Dalpe to my Flames was my biggest reach!

Personally i think the attitude problems with Beach has been overblown, Beach will be a monster in a few years IMO. Sorry i didn't know about Rutherford's statements and i didn't realize his team is set on defensive prospects, the way his team played defense much of this year maybe he should have brought them up!

They might be, but if Toronto did pick him and they were overblown and he wasn't a problem, that would be huge for Toronto. If they continued, then who does Toronto have to fall back on? Jeremy Williams, Robbie Earl, Dominic Moore, Jiri "The pornstar" Tlusty? Some other low-end prospect? Not trying to be an ass, just stating that Toronto has a poor prospect pool.

He might be a Patrice Bergeron, a 2nd round pick that turns out he should have been a first, but I don't see anyone taking a chance on him in the 1st.

It was a good attempt. No one can truly say who's going where, besides possibly the first 3-5 picks. I'm sure some teams will pull out of the blue picks too. It was a good try, not trying to criticize, just to help from what I've learned. haha

No probs, it's all in fun and I appreciate the input, everybody always knows more about their own teams needs and wants, thats what makes predicting a 30 team draft so hard and so much fun. any swinging d!ck can go off top 30-40 projected players, but it's not easy to say where!

Do agree that its tough to do a mock that covers so many teams. Since you have to try and get into the heads of so many GM's. Fans of that team will have a pretty good idea who they would like at that spot since they've had more time to focus in on it.

But I'm also in the camp of not liking Beach as a pick for the Leafs. Combining the attitude issues with the concussions he ran into this year, I'd just play it a bit safer. While drafting is always full of risks with the status of the Leafs farm system probably would be best to go for a pick with fewer issues.

Might go with Mikkel Boedker for that speed and skill level or Cody Hodgson for that ability to play in so many situations, plus that home province talent.
