There are a decent amount of Ottawa Senators prospects on here but the 1 I think most fans are excited for is Thomas Chabot and unless I missed his name he doesn't seem to have even made this list. Hes finally made the line up as a regular (for now) and has shown much more promise than Logan Brown has.

He has more than 25 games played

Good list OP I like a lot of the rankings you've made.

Serious question though. How do you rank goalie prospects? Is it based on stability, positional play, or some type of a mix of stats and analysts projections? Just curious because I feel like most goalies who are rated as higher prospects would more than likely be due to athleticism+ frame + numbers or some form like that, I just don't see any other way to clear cut rank a goalie as systems matter and overall soundness of position I feel like outweigh anything that they have control of.

With goaltenders I usually go by the eye test. I value athleticism, poise, mobility, and how goalies track the puck the most. I had a post on another thread about scouting goalies. I'll have to go find it. Was a little bit more detail in what I look for in goalies.

I love Shestyorkin the most because his mobility and the way he tracks the puck are both very elite

Why is Brett Howden so low? He hasn't played a ton of games this year but his ppg is among the highest in the WHL, he's improved that every year, is a strong two way player and seems to have a game that should transition well to the NHL. Sam Steel is like 50 spots better and hasn't had the best of draft +2 years and isn't as strong all around?

I don't even see Libor Hajek on the HM list, just a miss or you don't rate him at all?

It is nothing against Howden. Like I said in the original post, prospects after the 50 range can be interchangeable since they are so close in value. I am a fan of Howden and the whole Tampa system. They have a lot of depth.

Yes Hajek is a guy I had as an honourable mention. Stevie Y and the scouting staff have done a great job. I still feel Gusev will end up in Tampa eventually as well ( I know he is Vegas property)

Kailer Yamamoto seems way too low.
I don't know how I feel about yamamoto. He lit it up last year, played terribly first half of this year, then went super hot late season this year, and then had a poor playoffs. He seems very hot and cold. But put him with McDavid, and I can see future 60 point seasons even if he tops out as an average top 6 winger.

Valimaki was selected one spot before Liljegren less than 12 months ago (and was ranked right around that spot as well pre-draft). How has he fallen 55 spots back of Liljegren? Now everyone of course has different lists, and I won't argue with anyone saying that Liljegren should have been selected ahead of Valimaki - they were very close on most lists regardless... but 55 spots seems kind of bizarre to me, especially considering that Valimaki has been good this season (including playoffs) and captained the Finnish U20 team.

Michael Rasmussen is way too far down your list. He will be in the NHL next season. He's going to surprise some people.

Filip Hronek is too far down your list.

Jake Bean is ranked too high. Complete bust.

Connor Timmins is way too far down the list. IMO he's a better prospect or on equal ground with Makar. I don't get the separation. Probably your worst ranking.

Tyler Bertuzzi is ranked way too low. He's established himself already.

Kale Clague needs to be higher

Sam Steel needs to be WAY lower

Laczynski should be mentioned? Why haven't you?

Dennis Cholowski is going to be a top 4 defensemen in the NHL and he's not even mentioned? Why?

Martin Necas should be lower than he is.

Yes it is early and I don't have the time to pick apart your whole list so I am admitting I have missed a lot, but seriously your list needs some work. The only proof to this will be time. The list obviously would be ever changing as teams prospects develop.

Jake Bean is 19, it's impossible to be a bust at 19

Let’s see your list then. There’s nothing worse then a person blasting someone else’s list/rankings but not providing their own or putting in the work to at least make an effort as to why someone should be lower or higher. Give some reasoning, don’t just make blanket statements like “way too high” “needs to be lower”.

The homer is strong in this one.

Good list, but as some others have said, Välimäki is very low. I'd rank him over Juolevi.

I am actually very impressed with Hronek and agree that he could be ranked a bit higher. I just thought it was a little bold to say Rasmussen will be in the NHL next year and that Cholowski will be a top 4 defensemen, I'm not saying it won't happen, I just think people who does ranking like this won't be as bold. I also think the other prospects you listed were ranked properly.

I don't disagree that the original complaint was absurd. Only thing I'm going to point out in this post is that it's not bold to say Ras will be in the NHL next year. Holland has all but guaranteed it. He'll play the wing rather than down the middle, but unless something drastically changes, it's gonna happen.

Liljegren had an elite (record setting) season for an 18yo AHL defenceman.

OP, has your ranking of Vilardi altered at all since you made this list and he's come back? I'd rank him over several of the players you have 1-24.

I love the top 25 players, I actually love a lot of the top 100 players on this list even if some people don't think I do haha. I would move Vilardi up into the top 20. I still have some concerns about him but I think he got drafted by the perfect team to develop him properly to be honest

I like the list quite a bit. Yes some rankings I would have done differently but I think it was well done.
