You have really underrated D in my opinion. D will always go in the first, wether they deserve it or not.

On another note I like Marat pick for the sharks
I'm really not high on any of the defence this year after Drysdale and Sanderson.
All the others have red flags or low ceilings and I don't see 1st round hype around them at all. Remains to be seen how many teams agree with me.

1. You’re using the erroneous draft order perpetuated by Capfriendly ignoring the leagues edict of having no division winner. As a consequence, there are small changes that might be inconsequential. For example, the Avs draft at 25 instead of 24. Washington might take Perreault at 24 or 25 in either scenario.

2. A lot of Avs fans would like the JJ Peterka pick, including me. But it’s worth noting that the only Euros the Avs have drafted in the 1st round under Sakic agreed to play in the CHL or AHL (eg Rantanen and Kaut). So given this reality and uncertainty that Peterka may prefer to stay in Europe, Schneider is a very logical choice in this scenario. The Avs need some muscle on their defensive pairings with EJ is gradually breaking down and he’s also coming to the end of his contract. Plus you have Girard and Byram on the left side. I’d be happy with either but the issue with Euros makes Schneider more likely.

Edited the order.
