How many times are you going to say the same thing? We get it, you are doing your thing where you try and claim the Leafs are screwed with whatever move they are doing.

Funny how this board is like "Leafs have 2 D signed after this year LOL"

    * Dubas tries to sign his most reliable D this year *

"LOL Leafs are trying to sign this guy when they can get a bottom pairing guy in UFA for 1.5 M less"

    A. So if Muzzin signs for 5,000,001...what does that mean to Morgan Rielly? It will mean NOTHING. Rielly is going to get paid, and Muzzin's contract will have nothing to do with that.

    B. Dubas' penchant for overpaying is a myth folks like yourself like to use in false arguments about false facts.

    C. You are already talking about being uncomfortable about term that hasn't been given out?

    D. The Leafs have a whole department dedicated to the cap, i'll trust them before i trust your doom and gloom forecast thanks.

He's just laying his groundwork...if Dubas signs Muzzin to a fair contract? His response will be "Dubas overpaid again for an aging, declining player!!!" If Dubas signs him to a team friendly contract? His response will be "Dubas disrespected a veteran hockey player!!".

It's always a lose lose scenario with that guy.

I would be perfectly happy with something around 4x$6m or 5x$5m. Really hard to predict though. There aren't a ton of great comparables out there but that seems to be where 30-ish UFA defensemen sign.

    Rielly - Trade*
    Muzzin - Liljigren
    Sandin - Holl

    Dermott, Johnsson/Kerfoot, + for a RHD

It means Leafs are up against the Cap. Dubas is the GM so I don’t see why you are avoiding him in this discussion? Regardless whether you agree or not. Signing Muzzin to what has been reported will challenge the leafs cap next season. And since this discussion is on Muzzin. A 31 year old d man with a lot of miles in him. Term and avv is a tricky call.

AJ is now hurt; no one is buying damaged goods.

Kerfoot is likely staying, so IMO Kappy has to be put in that package if we want a solid RHD.

Well this thread is on Muzzin and his proposed contract. This is what I have been discussing, The impact of it, the reservations it may cause for some. If you have no desire to discuss the contract or the ramifications. Then there is no need to reply to me.

Love Muzzin. I have to cut Dubas some slack for his LA trades. Guys like Clifford and Muzzin are warriors which are needed on a team of....well soft as butter.

Hope he signs and sticks around for a while. I was really hoping they would sign him and let Barrie walk but wasn't getting my hopes up.

Barrie, there are parts of his game I like, but overall as a Leaf, I wouldn't even want him on my team for 5M a year.

Some team is going to pay him far too much money for a PP specialist.

Nothing to be worried about IMO

Could always ship a body to team that has trouble attracting talent like the Islanders

Even if Dubas gives him a fair contract and everyone else agrees with that, no matter what you will say how he overpaid and what a horrible deal it will be.

5.5 is slight overpay, but you get a team friendly term.

You kinda do this in every Leaf thread and are kinda wrong every time. Its weird that you don't learn from your mistakes.

I think Muzzin could probably do better than 4/5.5 on the open market tbh, Tyler Myers got $30 million
