With a bunch of time off I've delved deep into the depths of youtube and found myself all in sorts of nostalgic places. My favorite Fleetwood Mac song, when it came out I was too young to like it or really understand it, but its followed me throughout my life and has become at times painfully poignant. And this one blows my mind. I was at this show. I was still underage, and left school to go with friends to see U2 on the Zoo TV tour...on St Patty's day....at the old Boston Garden....with the Boston's own Pixies opening up. We went early and snuck into a bar down the street, it was light when we went in, dark when we went out. I remember walking/swaying under a bridge on the way over to the show that had a 55 gallon drum on fire like out of an 80's movie, and a dozen or so half naked guys (it was freezing) painted head to toe in green dancing around it like freaks. WPLR had a contest offering free tickets to those who had showed the most irish pride... I had the classic "obstructed" seats. A huge concrete column literally in my leg space with no view around it. So we walked around hiding in different sections all show. Bono came out tanked, and it showed for at least the beginning. There was a second stage in the middle they could walk to that was right in from of me. If you told me in 1992 that nearly 30 years later there would be this magic puffy cloud of happy music and video containing things back to my childhood and beyond floating around in the air above us that was connected to us all, and that you could push a button to pull into one of multiple small to large tv screens in your house to watch at your leisure on your couch....I wouldve taken away from you whatever you were smoking/drinking and made you sit down. You couldve told me Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory was a real place in Europe and that everything in the movie had actually happened, and I wouldve believed THAT more than the concept of youtube now. So I found video from the show. And yes I was a little annoyed at times looking at all the Bruins crap everywhere as I was four years away from losing the Whale and hated all things Bruin with fiery passion of a thousand suns.
