Not surprised. He can't get into the Canadiens lineup. Chiarot, Kulak and Mete are our LD and Romanov is here next year.

He's signed for an additional year too. Habs desperately need AHL forwards. There are a ton of forward injuries at both the NHL and AHL level.

We paid a 5th to Minnesota to get him.

Oh, and Sturtz would be included to even out the contracts too.

Have Ottawa and Montreal ever made a trade together before?

It's strange to say but Ottawa is making A LOT of smart moves over the past year, Karlsson trade, Duclair trade, this trade

Senators needed an other pro defenseman, Chabot doesn't need to be playing this much.

Have Ottawa and Montreal ever made a trade together before?

Andreas Dackell for an 8th round pick, looks like that may be the only one?

And you proclaimed Nikita Zaitsev was the best UFA signing ever or Justin Holl is breaking out as an impact top-4D ...maybe all fans equally overrate their players at times.

To be honest, Reilly did play like a Top-4 D for about 10 games last season (at the beginning of the season).

He shouldn't play on a regular basis for an NHL team, and good thing for Reilly, that's not where he's headed.

Montreal got Reilly for a 5th, they lost him a couple years later for a 5th. So essentially the last two years of him was free value.

.... we're 5pts behind you guys, and have two top 5 lottery picks and 5 young ppg forwards in the AHL

Injuries now. So Rielly helps with that immediately.

But also we are likely to trade at least 2 if not 3 of Hainsey, DeMelo, Boroweicki.

So he can help next year too.

I like the deal
