I mean sure he hunts it, but he’s not extremely effective at it cause he’s pretty slow now.
Yeah I was thinking a first round pick would work.
More crap in like Bergevin likes to do. Guess you can't have enough 4th liners....
As a bottom 6 center, I’ll gladly trade down from the 4th round for his attitude and work ethic.
Thompson waived his NTC to come to Montreal. Thats the difference
Bergevin cornering the market on 4th liners?
On the other hand the Kings are a long shot even for a wild card spot while Montréal is a lock for at least a round. (After last season that really weird to contemplate the playoff.) So this is a opportunity to work his butt off, and try to shine on the big stage for another contract somewhere next season.
At the end of the day it's the only part you can tweak mid season on the cheap. Everything else is way too overpriced.
With Julien there he'll be getting top 6 minutes pretty soon.
Time to bring Campbell out of retirement. Moar gud pros.
Yeah, a 4th round pick for a rental. Robbery - lol.
I like this deal for the Habs.
By themselves, acquiring the likes of Dale Weise, Nate Thompson, and Christian Folin isn't very much.
However, put together, this is suddenly a nice addition of size with NHL experience for Montreal.
In addition, a 4th line of Weise-Thompson-Deslauriers, especially in playoff scenarios, can be somewhat like what the Islanders have in Martin-Cizikas-Clutterbuck in terms of a real bashing line, extra puck control (Nate Thompson is STILL an above average draw man), and could possibly come up with some of the ugliest goals ever seen (though still count as much as pretty ones!) if they can find some chemistry.
And if all it is costing Montreal is downgrading from a 4th to a 5th, then the deal looks that much better.
Canadiens aim to make the postseaon, and by replacing the mostly smaller guys they had on their 4th line with Weise and now Thompson, they could make life miserable for some other teams when it comes to hitting and grinding.
Although he has lost a step or two, when he is on, Nate Thompson can still be a pretty formidable hitting beast!
MTL 4th line this season versus today.
Hudon/Peca as extra and once Byron is back, Deslauriers is out and Peca or Hudon get trade or sent to Laval.
What? Its one of the worst poutines in quebec. Right accross the street tho has the 3rd best poutine ive ever tried at a portuguese resto.
Bergevin acquiring 4th line tough grinders with no skill...will never get old
How many did we have in the lineup in the last 2 years? Deslauriers and?????
This just proves one thing, MB had no plan and no vision going into the season. He got lucky trading for Domi and Tatar, drafted KK, signed a bunch of fringe NHLers and brought back Plek. He let them play with some youngsters that just couldn't make a niche in MTL and just waited to see what would happen.
The team surpassed expectations, created a forward logjam and started waiving players. He lost 2 for nothing, players drafted by the organization over fringe NHLers. The fringe NHLers proved they couldn't play at the NHL and started to waive them too, he lost another player yesterday. Probably loses another one tomorrow. Then makes minor moves to make the 4th line better. Makes you wonder. The signings of Pleks, Chaput, Agostino and Peca just seem useless now. I hope Weise finds his game again, he can make that 4th line really good with Deslauriers.
How in the hell did he ever get a NTC? Impressive.
Because he asked for it. He got it. Toyota
Total BS to suggest this trade means MB lucked out on Domi & Tatar trade. This is a tweak to the fourth line plain and simple. Sure regret losing DLR and KHL Sherbak. They both suck and that’s why no one was willing to give anything for them.
However put them together and you have the WTF line
Well, now...EVERY playoff line needs a gimmick, right?
This will work!
Oh, and for those about to lose their %$$# and scream about Folin being a defenseman, yea, we know.....relax.
Have a ju ju bean, settle down, roll with it.
Yeah not only was the 4th line awful, they added zero physicality other than Deslauriers. Now I don’t think Thompson and Weise are going to start hammering players constantly, but they will be strong on the puck.
I still can't believe the Habs got King at one point. Thompson is better than King i can tell you that lol.
Separate names with a comma.
