It might be a message that Price has to play at a level that justifies capitulating to his back-up desires. If you want to make demands or have wishes followed that aren't in your contract/terms of employment, your performance better justify that.

Price had been been playing really well prior to the losing skid and D has absolutely been an issue, but you have to do more if you want to, as a player, dictate personnel moves.

Seems like there is a danger of alienating your franchise player and of over-pressuring a rookie goalie, but then it might be comparable to giving someone's PP minutes away to a rookie. Might shake things up. A gamble indeed

I doubt it. Price isn't going anywhere unless he forces his way out and having a rookie back-up for a little bit isn't/shouldn't a big enough deal to lead to that. And no one is asking Primeau to save the Canadiens season.

no one is asking him to do that but for the kid himself the pressure is there

its natural for a kid to feel it, just ask Carter Hart
