might be a trade in place, or they might just keep Kinkaid if he's not claimed... who knows, well genius MB, but who else

Hard to accept Kinkaid went down hill over a few months. Have to think he is still a valuable backup goalie on the right team.

Only 1.75 as well. If they were willing to retain 750k (they have tons of cap space) the Leafs would gladly throw a mid round pick back and a goalies contract (Hutch most likely which evens out the money).

Kinkaid hasn't been good by any means but still, weird that they would do this so quickly. Also weird they didn't do the same thing with Niemi last year as he was even worse. I hope they bring up Lindgren, no need to rush Primeau.

I hope they don't bring up Primeau. He will let in three goals or more in two games and fans will start bashing him and say he's a bust like Kotkaniemi.
pretty much what is happening in Montreal and with the Media.

let's all pile on KK cause he didin't PPG as a young 19 years old center. Dear god, this is sad...

I would be SHOCKED if he is not somehow a Leaf by Wednesday, if he's not Kyle Dubas isn't trying

He’s had subpar .900 SA% last year too.

I dont even think the leafs have the cap space to even make a claim

Nope. We don't.

Which is why a deal where Montreal retains 50% would have to be worked out. I do think it's extremely doable and could be a win/win for both teams.

And even if he crashes and burns in Toronto then f*** it. Not like we're not used to that at this point.

It's definitely worth a shot from Toronto and Montreal's perspective. We get a backup goalie who is hopefully capable of winning (I mean....he's done it this year. Huge upgrade on Hutch already!) and Montreal gets an asset for a player they're more than content with cutting loose for seemingly nothing.

Not a bad backup, but it seems like it just hasn't been working out for him (probably because our defense is trash)...MTL has other options available

Not that easy, and not much of an upgrade.

You would need MTL to retain, which I doubt they do for cheap since they can just bury him for far less against their cap, and then even at 875k he's not worth all that much. So you would likely need to overpay for a guy who hasn't been great for almost 2 years now and is definitely no guarantee to be better than Hutch has been for us thus far.

So if I am Dubas, I'm not paying more than Hutch and a conditional late round pick in return based on # of games Kinkaid plays. Which I can understand is probably not worth it for MTL to deal Kinkaid with 50% retention.

He can't be worse than Hutch yoy need to try SOMETHING, and no that's not the Marlies that's been done that's failed, Sparks failed and Kask failed.

It's time to try another road because this is the wrong road.
