Doubtful move, too much cap hit for a bottom pair. It depends if habs would consider retention without an extra value of the pick

There is no way that the Habs players are all going to agree to mail it in so
Habs dont need to buy into tanking. All thats necessary is replacing Price with an AHL level goaltender (Price goes on LTIR for the rest of the season) and it wont matter what the rest of the team does. Sabres and Leafs were the most recent examples of this.

Scandella looked good last night. Had a couple of rushes, some SOG(one of which was a bomb that rang off the crossbar), passed and skated well. Looked decent defending, also, though it always takes time to understand a new teams system.

I understand why BUF made the trade, but MTL got a bargain.

You understand? I don't. Scandella was more useful than Frolik. Botterill could of waived Bogo back then and used Scandella for trade deadline...where a team could of been a bit more desperate instead of being desperate ourselves.

No question Habs retain 50% on Scandella.
D of his type move for a 3rd or 4th at trade deadline. Habs got him for a 4th.

Despite his gaffe last game, he's been mostly boring. Bottom pairing D for sure. Not sure how he ever got $4m.

no, he’s been arguably one of their two or three best defensemen this year. Botterill is just getting run because he played his cards so poorly.

That says more about why Buffalo is terrible yet again, than Scandellas worth.

There was a time Mark Messier, in his twighlight, was the best player on NY in the early 00's, yet, he was actually terrible and the team was in the thriws of its 6th and 7th straight year of missed playoffs.

Perspective is paramount.

Yes if we could get our pick back for him that would be great, he’s a #5/6 defenseman, something like a 4th + 5th and we can retain his whole salary if that’s needed/possible

He played with a solid defense partner in MIN in Spurgeon, and he played really well with Jokiharju in Buffalo.

Considering Alzner got 5, I'm not surprised at all.

Why retain salary to get a 3rd, when you can not retain salary and get a 2nd, with a potential conditional 4th thrown in too?

TSN is saying "The Montreal Canadiens have traded defenceman Marco Scandella to the St. Louis Blues in exchange for a second-round pick in 2020 and a conditional fourth-round pick in 2021."

If they truly did get a second no doubt they are retaining salary

ur GM, just like ours, should be fired.
At least Bergevin can trade well, but has no vision.

Is it a really a 2nd and future 4th for Scandella? How could that be? No way is worth a 2nd, let alone a 2nd and 4th.
