RIP Coach Mason

I've missed the days of him and Red locking horns. Michigan-MSU hockey hasn't been the same since he left behind the bench.

Ron Mason was a college hockey legend. 36 years, 924 wins was a record when he retired in 2002. He

apparently was responsible for getting Lake State into the CCHA. As a Upper peninsula hockey fan from near

the Soo I am thankful for his efforts. Lake State being in the CCHA brought entertaining hockey and future

NHL players for us small town guys to enjoy.

Mason was one of the greatest ever in the NCAA. If you can turn Bowling Green into a national power, you are truly a phenominal coach. Mason also had enough sway to get good prospects back when college wasn't seen as a good pathway to the NHL.
