Who would you rather have?
Benn right now, but Paajarvi's got more upside moving forward.
Benn. If MP develops properly he'll make it close.
All MPS has on Benn is speed.
Benn has better hands, better playmaking skills, better shot, better finish, is more physical, has more leadership skills. Give me a player with Benn's skillset over MPS's anyday of the week. Benn is going to turn into a very similar player to what you see with Kesler/Richards right now.
right now benn...but imo potential is more for mps
Right now? Benn by a landslide, not a fair comp until Magnus is around the same age that Benn is now. Benn will always have a physical element to his game that I doubt that Paajarvi ever develops and Magnus will have speed on Benn as well.
I've liked Benn for a long time, and I think he can score a hella lot of goals in his career.
MPS even 1 full season in is a bit of an enigma. He has a pretty crazy toolbox and there is kind of an X factor with him. I'm still not at all sure how he is going to turn out. If things went 'just right' he might wind up surprising even the most ardent of fans with what he can accomplish... but I have no idea how he is going to play out.
Well this is certainly a reasonable comparison.
One is 21, played 141 NHL games, 43 goals, and 89 points.
The other is 19, played 71 games, 11 goals, and 28 points
I wonder how this will go down.
A better Comparison is Jamie Benn vs. Evander Kane
I think the fact that Oilers fans are picking Benn answers that (I'd choose him too).
But it's pretty early to be judging Paajarvi on anything. Too soon to say for sure what type of player he'll be, he's still figuring everything out.
Ain't even close? Really?
They're not exactly comparable players. Benn is much more physical and MPS is faster and more agile... It depends what each team needs
More skill on Benn, better defensive player, more physical. As easy a choice as they come, both now and going forward.
Benn. Total package and his scoring is only going to pick up, MPS is going to just be a speedy winger with some scoring.
i think you pretty much have to pick Benn at this point...but i really don't think it's anywhere near as clear cut and far apart as some people seem to think. Benn is by far the 'safer' choice at this point, but MPS has that 'something special' that i just don't sense from Benn. both will be great players for a long time though.
Benn hands down, if MPS hits his peak then he might be better in the end but it hasn't looked that great, hopefully MPS turns it around.
Too early to tell, but it looks like they will be very, very different players, so it will be hard to judge. Pajaarvi has the edge in speed, easily. He also will likely be a superior defensive player. As a rookie, he is already the best defensive forward on his team. Benn is more likely to shoot and play physical, Parjaarvi looks like he should be a superior puck handler. Right now, its obviously Benn, but lets see how PRV develops before we put too much effort into this debate.
Not comparable at all in age or style. As an Oiler fan I'd probably take Benn but I'm not sure the purpose of such a comparison.
I root for the Oilers secondly, I even wanted the Sens to take MPS when I knew less about him.
Benn, clearly. I'm not nearly as high on MPS' upside as many Oilers fans are. Fast, north south winger, big body that was NHL ready....the actual skill level doesn't measure up to the other stuff.
wouldn't even blink. benn.
I just like the way Benn plays more than MPS.
No kidding, Benn wasn't even in the NHL at 19. MPS would have to put up 41 points next year to match Benn. That's not unrealistic, however I doubt he'll continue to progress at the same rate Benn has.
Benn, and it's not even close. As much as I love Paajarvi, Benn will be the better player.
Separate names with a comma.
