JavaScripti is still that popular?

I can't speak for programming people but in IT, Python and Powershell (scripting) are two of the big ones and bash shell scripting too. I also see a lot of places requesting proficiency with sql databases.

Javascript is very popular because there are no other languages that compete with it when it comes to front end development. Whereas with backend development you have multiple options to choose from such as Java, C#, Python, Ruby, PHP, etc.

Yeah and now you can develop iOS and Android apps in JavaScript too it’s not going anywhere.

React native probably has a big impact on its popularity.

Both of these. I hate JS but all I have to say is good luck if you're doing front-end development in any other language, and I say that as someone that used to do so years ago.

For any other type of software development, I'd generally advise against JS unless you know what you're doing.
