Pitkanen Overated? HELLO NO! He's the best defensman prospect in the NHL IMO. If I had to build my team around a young defensman it would be him. I like J-Bo alot but Pitkanen has out performed him, Yes I know, I rather play for the Flyers then the Panthers to but still, Joni has lived up to his hype.

I dont agree with that. After Pitkanens WJC last year the hype went waaaaay overboard.

You could be looking at the Nicklas Listrom of this modern era. Now that's what I call hype. But that's how much i'm sold on this player. An Absolute stud, But belive me, J-Bo well be one hell of a player, thats how good those two players were. I still think J-Bo's hype was defening compared to Jonis.

hehe, something like that. Actually I remember hearing 6'9" 200. Whoever made that up wasn't thinking. 200 pounds is pretty light for someone that height, especially for someone who can supposedly do whatever he wanted on the ice.

now to be fair, i don't remember there being a huge hype around brian. among preds fans? maybe. the jury is still out though. some preds fans are quick to call him a "bust," but i defend him...when you consider he missed an ENTIRE YEAR with a groin injury. that hurts a kid mentally. he's the starter this year in Milwaukee...and reminds me a lot of another Predators goaltender....Mike Dunham. Great glove-hand...maybe even a better skill set than Mike....but with the same mental weakness\confidence problems. When Brian is on....he's ON. Incredible goalie. But if a bad one gets by...he gets RATTLED. He's got time, though.

I was a big Kobasew pusher. I figured that he could have a 25 goal rookie season and predicted him to win the Caldar. Although he most likely will becoem a 25+ goal scorer in the league, Me and many figured that he would make a far bigger impact in his rookie year.

Back in 2000, Finley was all you ever saw on "top goalie" lists. Judging from your register date, you weren't around then, so you wouldn't know. By '03, Finley's injury problems dropped him considerably, but there was a time here when Finley was the next best thing since sliced bread...

Torres and Lundmark are the 2 i remember being extremely hyped here and did'nt lived up the expectation yet.

i was here as "NMK" back then. i re-registered as nomorekids last year. he wasn't that hyped.

I guess it has absolutely nothing to do with the hype these prospects receive before they are even drafted. Before Lundmark was even drafted he was compared to Yzerman. Blackburn was drawing comparisons to Cujo. Fans will always overhype their players and prospects. There just happens to be a lot of Rangers fans on these boards so it will be magnified. In comparison, Devils prospects never seem to be overhyped because there are only two of you. Or should I say only a parking lot few

I thought he would do better too. Not giving up on him yet. I don't think he belngs on a "most overrated" thread, however. It's not like people predicted he would be a superstar and it's not like he is a career AHLer.

I saw him as a guy who could become an excellent 2nd liner and I still think he has that upside.

i dont think lundmark is overrated. Yes he hasent been able to get anything going, but he's also playing in NY, where he isnt getting quality time. Throw him on a team where he can play 13-18 mins a game with good players and he'd probably be a pretty good player.

overrated doesn't mean "bad," but a lot of oilers fans around here talk like hemsky is the next goalscoring dynamo.
