Posted this in the NHL forum, but wanted to specifically see Bruins fans answers to this as well.
For most excited, it can be a trade, signing, draft pick, draft lottery, a player being named to an Olympic team, a player earning an individual award, etc., etc.
For most disappointed, it can be all of the above, only with a negative reaction. Some might want to list an off-ice incident regarding a player on your team as well.
For the Bruins:
Happy
- Bergeron winning the Selke: I thought this was long overdue and it was really nice to finally see him recognized.
- 2010 Draft Lottery: There was a clear top two for the 2010 draft, so it was really nerve-racking watching that lottery. When, the Panthers came up at #3 it was really exciting to know that the Bruins would be getting one of Seguin or Hall, and still had playoff hopes for that year as well.
- Chara and Savard sign in Boston on the same day: I had been gone the whole day and came back to check the ticker to see where the big names signed. I had to watch it come and go several times before I believed that the Bruins inked not one but two of the biggest names on the market.
Disappointed
- The hunt for a top center coming back from the 2004/05 lockout: First Forsberg was strongly linked to Boston, but ended up choosing the Flyers; then Modano was even more strongly linked to Boston, but he re-upped with Dallas. Option C: Alexei Zhamnov. I had a bad feeling about that one from the very start.
- Thornton trade: I was more shocked than anything. It started off with me looking for a silver lining that at least Marleau would be coming to Boston as they hadn't announced what Boston would be getting back when the story broke, but alas that wasn't the case.
- Iginla Trade Backfire: It was awesome tracking that story that night. Iginla got scratched so you knew a trade was coming, then Bartkowski and Khokhlachev were pulled from the Providence line-up so all signs pointed to Boston, and then it finally came to fruition and I went to bed thinking Iginla was a Bruin. Woke up the next morning, checked to see some more talk/analysis of the trade, and everything was turned upside down.
