People complaining about his PP points need to realize 2 things:

1. He would still have 10pts in 14 games at this point if he had zero PP time (which is phenomenal and would still put him at 3rd in defensive scoring).

2. Everybody on our top unit PP is directly involved besides, perhaps, Kadri. They are also not overplayed like some other top-heavy PPs (Thry typically play half the PP if they dont score). Rielly is critical to the PP success and his weakness has always been his shot which looks way better now (more accurate and wider range of shot types in his arsenal now).

He wont keep up this torrid pace obviously, but he could very easily be a Norris candidate by the end of the year.

He's looked very good defensively all year too. None of this is new though; he was a stud all last year. And yet there's still a large number of delusional fans on these boards that refuse to even acknowledge he's a #1D.

Good for Rielly. already has as many goals as he did last season in 14 games. he should get Norris consideration if he keeps it up

So we're doing threads when players are TIED for SIXTH in league scoring now? Jesus. Has it even been 15 games?

Is there a D higher than him in points? Also, are you just adding a game to the number of games the Leafs have played?

Rielly has like 80 points in his last 100 or so games.

Are the points more meaningful after the Leafs play their 15th game in a few days? Or will it then be “Jesus. Has it even been 16 games?”

He was a legit #1 last season and he looks like he’s improved his overall strength and shot for this season. If he keeps it up he will be in Norris contention. It’s been a while since we could say that and be serious. Feels good man

Let's see where he stands after 82 games.

Sorry, seen this phrase being thrown around a lot on hf recently, just wanted to try it on for size too lol

His stats are pretty impressive.

In fact, it's wild to see 7 dmen over ppg after over a dozen games.

And now half the people claiming points don't matter for defensemen for the last 10 years suddenly think they do.
