The Orr pic is 67-68 or 68-69 because of the white socks. Always thought it looked weird having the white socks with both the light and dark jerseys. The following season they used yellow socks with the black jersey. Similarly, the Russian team in blue jersey with red pants looks weird with white socks...

The Los Angeles Millionaires were a Minor Professional hockey team playing in the California Hockey League from 1929 to 1931 out of the Polar Palace AKA" The Hollywood Rink."

The League began in 1925 as the California Amateur Hockey League playing games at the Palais Du Glais Arena.By 1926 it became professional called the CPHL which lasted until 1933.
Not sure who the lady and the owner is though.

Apparently she was a recluse later in her life. Perhaps saddened by love or similar feelings that never materialized in a physical and emotionally present relationship (yes, I'm a staff writer for Dr. Phil).

By the way, I have no idea if she owned a hockey club. If she did, wouldn't there be ample evidence of it somewhere?

No, she did not own or co-own the team, a gentleman by the name of Paul Ingwald Malwick [1892-1937], a native of Minnesota did. He's the gentleman on the far left of the photo. The team was coached by someone named Mel Malwick, a brother?

In December 1931, Carlin’s Park — a popular amusement park in northwest Baltimore — added Iceland, a converted ballroom with 3,000 seats.

Carlin's rink was home to the US Coast Guard Cutters Hockey team from 1942-1944.

What's up with that Vancouver Canucks pic - why is one guy wearing a dark jersey and the other two light jerseys? And the dark jersey has a number on front but not the others....

My first "favorite Buffalo Goalie", Gilles Villemure. Rangers were our parent club, and Gilles was the best goalie in the AHL 1967 -1970 seasons...

Those jerseys and the logo were better than most NHL teams current jerseys.

My first "favorite Buffalo Goalie", Gilles Villemure. Rangers were our parent club, and Gilles was the best goalie in the AHL 1967 -1970 seasons...

Those jerseys and the logo were better than most NHL teams current jerseys.

Loved Villemure. Entertaining, solid and ya, the old "Bottle Cap" jerseys instant classics' despite the rather obvious & for some perhaps..... "crass commercialization of a sports teams logo" that played in the professional ranks... something acceptable at the Junior & Amateur Levels of course be it the olde Guelph Biltmores (hats), Markham Waxers (furniture polish) etc....

Minor-Pro Hockey however (and Baseball) exceptions were made. Various car dealerships, "Zephyrs" for example widely used & encouraged by that car company, however, beyond the name, not quite so much in your face as the Bisons & Pepsi. The Hershey Bears came out with a "Chocolate Bar" jersey back in the day however the AHL shut that down, wouldnt allow it. So a bit uneven handed in dealing with sponsorships, ownership interests in wanting to carry over branding from commercial interests (Bruins colors same as those used by the founders grocery store chain an eg.).

Now, as for that ensemble Howie, jersey/sweater.... Yeah, loved it but that particular version, I thought those idiot football jersey stripes on the shoulders needed to go. Thats not hockey Man. Get it off the ice, keep it on the field, on Letter & Team Jackets etc if you must... for I have spoken. Now. Kindly warm up the 49 Ford Prefect, get your ass back there & fix up the mess of things you Western New Yorkers created in that abomination of a fashion faux pas.... and while your at it, Commander Tom's uniform? Pretty GD lame Son. Deserved/deserves an upgrade. More braid, badges, regalia.... and no, dont be giving him those Bison football jersey shoulder stripes. Do some good & give them to Cheektowaga Highs' Football Team.

They were The Hershey B'ars (1934-36), and prior to that, the Chocolate B'ars (1933-34).

As you mention, they were deemed too commercial by the league, and became The Hershey Bears in 1936-37.
