Habs fans want the same things that Leafs fans do. They'll say they would've taken Couture. Kinda sucks picking right after them.

Yeah, too bad the Leafs came back in the 3rd in that last game against the Habs. It was nice until the Islanders won in a shootout the next day. Otherwise, the Leafs pick 12th...

No way Edmonton picks Alzner at #4. They would pick Vorocek. Also they may get him at #6 so they wouldn't trade just to go to #4.

Great job with the mock draft. I really hope the Habs don't pick Hamill though...ugh! I've had it with these small players...we have Corey Locke already, isen't he the same type of player??

smarten up... 5'11', 180 pound center who led the whl in scoring.. toughest league in canada, size is not a problem for hamill

sounds like a real educated opinion he isnt even close to corey locke in skill or size.. montreal would be lucky to take hamill

Theres no way they trade #1 for Richards if their smart. I don't get people. Its so frustrating that people dont understand the economics of the game.

Why would chicago trade a #1 pick- A future star who for his 1st 3 years will only make 900k and then after that 3-5 million until he becomes a UFA for someone who makes 6 million when they could just keep the stud and sign a UFA like smyth, forsberg, shanny, ect.

In some regards Chicago is semi doing TB a favour by freeing up that space. If richards gets traded it will be for like a 2nd or 3rd rounder IMO.

Trade up for Alzner? not bloody likely. If this happened and Voracek slipped to 6 I may not be alive in the morning.

Hence the question mark!! But still 5 foot 11 isen't exactly a big player..is he physical at all?? Corey Locke has some crazy skill...wasen't he named CHL player of the year in 2002-2003? Anyways it was nothing against Hamill, I just think the Habs are more in need of a big physical centre...

I like the #17 pick for the Rangers, I think he's on their radar.

McDonagh and Petrecki are the two D-men I would have no problem with the Rangers taking in the 1st round. Otherwise, give me one of Pacioretty, Backlund, Eller or Mayorov.

Pretty sure I saw Hamill listed as 5'10" or 5'11" -- that's not huge but it's Koivu-sized. Besides, in new NHL size isn't the same factor...

Note: It's a weak draft! Turris or Kane wouldn't have been top 10 in 2003. So you're going to go out on a limb and declare Kane a star, huh? You forget Patrick Stefan in 1999 or Alexandre Daigle in 1993?

Trust me -- Kane is no Ovechkin or Crosby, there is no guarantee with any player in this draft. I am just projecting a few trades for some fun. I am sorry everyone wants to shoot down the Oil trading up for Alzner, but seeing as losing Pronger equalled them missing the playoffs, you'd think more Edmonton fans would realize it's the blueline that needs touching up, and Alzner is head and shoulders above the rest of the d-men in this draft.

As for Smyth or Forsberg or Shanny going to Chicago as a free agent, are u kidding me? No one wants to go to Chicago as a free agent. Richards doesn't have a no-trade until July 1st and if he's gonna be traded, it will be before then or the Lightning will be at his mercy when it comes to dealing Richards. Even Michal Handzus won't sign with the Hawks, and they need a centre, unless they see Jonathon Toews playing first-line right off the bat. Richards, Samsonov and Havlat would make one hell of a line...

Yeah. No way in hell Edmonton moves up to take Alzner. In fact, LA will proabably trade down to take Alzner. Voracek or bust at #4.

If I rememeber correctly the last time the Oilers picked 4th overall they picked somebody named Jason Bonsignore. Luckily 2 picks later Ryan Smyth was still available. If they pass on Alzner they may suffer a similar fate, and it will cinch my hunch Kevin Lowe is indeed a moron.

Sorry Lime, you didn't include Brandon Sutter in your mock. He is a top 10 pick -- so you go to the back of the class, try again!

Thanks for the encouragement! And no, Corey Locke is not the same type of player as Hamill. Hamill will one day graduate from the AHL, unlike Corey Locke.

I don't think the Blues will keep all 3 first rounders.

I agree with you CCBC, but I couldn't come up with a scenario I liked. Once the draft starts, everything will change.

Also, considering the hissy fit everyone had over my Hawks-Bolts trade and Oiler-Kings trade, why bother? Lol. :naughty:
