I figured with the draft right around the corner we can all post our rankings and we could also take shots at a top 15 mock draft. I’ll preface this by saying all these are my own actual opinions and I tried to base them solely on my viewings of the players. It was also hard to get games in the European junior leagues so there are a fair amount of players that I have simply not seen enough of to include in my top 20.

Rankings:
1. Lafreniere
2.Rossi
3.Perfetti
4.Raymond
5.Stutzle
6.Byfield
7.Sanderson
8.Jarvis
9.Holtz
10.Drysdale
11. Askarov
12. Amirov
13. Ryan O’Rourke
14.Perrault
15.Mercer
16.Schnieder
17.Lundell
18.Grans
19. Guhle
20. Reichel

Just Missed: Mysak, Holloway, Quinn, Zary

If I get some extra time, I will try and break down my personal opinions of the players.

Mock:
1. NYR: Lafreniere
2. LAK: Stutzle
3. OTT: Byfield
4. DET: Raymond
5. OTT: Askarov
6. ANA: Holtz
7. NJD: Sanderson
8. BUF: Rossi
9. MIN: Perfetti
10. WPG: Drysdale
11. NSH: Jarvis
12. FLA: Guhle
13. CAR: Quinn
14. EDM: Lundell
15. TOR: Schnieder
16. MTL: Amirov
17. CHI: Mercer
18. NJD: Wallinder
19. CGY: Lapierre
20. NJD: Perrault

Let’s see who can get the closest on the mock

Jarvis, Holloway, Mercer...all guys who are described by some as Centers, but played wing last year. If they aren't playing C in junior/NCAA, how are they going to cut it in the NHL? Many think that Perfetti and Rossi will be NHL wingers, albeit ones who play like Centers when they have the puck.

Weird for NJD to take two LHD in the top 20, but they could use them. I think ROR is really solid...once i realized that he was about three inches taller than i had previously thought, he shot up the boards to me, because just about everything else is great...i think he needs to fill out. Sort of the Lundell of Dmen.
I’d throw Rossi in the top 20

I don't see Rossi becoming a winger. From watching him play (one of the few guys this year that I actually have watched play), I think he plays the game like a center, does his best work from the middle of the ice, and is superb on face-offs, in spite of his lack of size. He's also probably the best defensive forward in the draft. If he doesn't cut it as a top 6 center in the NHL, I believe he'll be an undersized checking center instead. I personally think that's his floor. I think his ceiling is as a #1 center.

Afraid I don't have time at the moment to make a mock draft (unless I make a terrible one based off of half-known information), but I'll be pumped if Perfetti or Rossi fall to us. Regardless, I think we're going to be getting a very good player at #9 this year. More Mikael Granlund than James Sheppard.

If we choose a defenseman so division rivals Winnipeg and Nashville can select Rossi and Perfetti respectively, I will lose my mind.

I don't care so much about division rivals, but picking Sanderson( to be fair, SoE did say he expected trades) after signing Brodin to a NMC and Soucy would be awkward. If you think he is a can't miss, franchise Dman then I guess you have to do it....still awkward. Play Brodin/Soucy on the off side?

Next year is strong for Dmen, not so much depth up front. I would like to get a LHD prospect this year in the 2nd or later rounds, especially if there isn't a C prospect there that blows wind up our skirts. I think that there are a lot of "project" LHD with high upsides, as well as some meat and potatoes big LHD in Kuznetzov and Kleven that will be useful if we end up having a D corps with Addison, Spurgeon, Menell and Belpedio on it.

If we don't pick a C with our first then we pretty well have to use our second for one, don't we?

Soucy won't be on this team after the expansion draft.

But if Rossi and Perfetti are still available at 1.9 then I think it's a obvious we're taking the C.

Why are you so sure about Soucy being taken at the ED, or am i misunderstanding you?

I dont know his reasoning but I also think Soucy will be gone at the ED.

pretty much I think the Wild will protect 7-3-1 with Dumba being trade at the draft or TDL.

I just think Soucy will be BPA.

I see. Soucy being gone is reliant on Dumba being traded before the ED, and 7+3. Could also be that Dumba bounces back in a big way, we can't find a trade for him, and we decide to go 4+4. In that case, I can see Seattle taking others before Soucy, but it's impossible to say till we see what kind of years they have.
