Just that, since it is the transfer window, one would expect a large number of transactions to occur during that time. "It's only January" phrasing just sounds to me like it implies some sort of expected linear progression of such transactions, when in fact there's good reason to believe there won't be nearly as much in the way of additional transactions for the next four months or so. :)

How is LA going to sort out having 4 designated players on their roster?

Atlanta was forced to sell one of theirs. Is MLS going to make a new rule for LA Galaxy?

It's going to be a messy situation. Either LA has to sell, one of the 4 takes a pay-cut, so they can then be bought down below DP level, or there's a new rule.

Gio Dos Santos is a DP in name only. He's been stealing money from us the past couple of years and has hardly played due to "injuries". I think Te Kloese wants to buy down his contract and thinks he can help this team, but Gio is owed a lot of money which would make it difficult. But AEG is willing to buy out his contract if necessary. Guaranteed it'll get sorted out.

Gio Dos Santos is a disgrace, what a dumb and useless player. Some thought he was a great talent... He's been a bust everywhere.

They can't sell at this point in the window. The Players Association already said that they would not allow GDS to take the pay-cut that would be required to buy down his contract enough.

This got me wondering - is there some sort of LTIR equivalent for DP slots in MLS? The Crew's using all three (Higuain, Santos, Valenzuela), but Valenzuela's going to miss the whole season due to a preseason injury...

Not sure, hard to keep up with MLS rules and I don't make a habit of it either.

I suppose another option is the league could make one of the players simply ineligible to play.

If they do that, it should be Ibrahimovic. He was the last one signed to a designated player contract.

Nashville SC is a pathetic name and the logo is atrocious. I hope they flop.

I'm just grumpy that there's another team trying to stake a claim on gold in MLS. But it was pretty predictable, given the USL team's appearance.

Technically, they copied the USL team, which copied the NPSL team. Ostensibly that NPSL team pulled the colors from the flag of the City of Nashville; no idea if they did so because the Preds did the same thing or whatever.

If they keep the same kit, they'll be primarily gold with white sleeves. I can tolerate that a whole hell of a lot more than I tolerate LAFC being called "the Black and Gold" - we have a two decade plus head start on that particular nickname in MLS.

And FWIW the Galaxy have gone out of their way to not market Gio at all. He's not in any of their promotional videos and he's not on any billboards in LA marketing the team.

Belgian media reporting Genk and Toronto have reached a €10m agreement on Pozuelo to join after Genk's final regular season game (which is March 17)

    Son of a

So we just lost 14 goals for nothing. And we still haven't dealt with Gio yet. I trust Schellotto, but if Zlatan gets hurt this team is going to sink like the Titanic

Season begins this week, will be interesting to see if Toronto FC can bounce back this year.

Atlanta is not going to miss a damn beat this year. Pity might even be better than Almiron and if they get that Brek Shea for most of the season, we are all in big trouble.

I still like a healthy RBNY to give them fits.
