Post your final squad here, with a captain and two alternate captains (to assess leadership), and the squad will be reviewed by other GMs. This is a good tradition to maintain. It's a time to assess each team individually on its own merits, strengths and weaknesses. For newbies, here are some examples of recent past assassination threads:

Looks like everyone else was too scared to post their roster compared to the express. :thumbu:

We'll take the trophy in advance, thanks ;)

(Yes, I know I prematurely posted my roster on the thread)

Few quick notes:

- Good first line, demonstrates strong offense prowess. Not too familiar with Boll, but was he much of a two-way player? If not the line is lacking physical presence.

- Khylstov is pint-sized, but also good offensively, McKegney can probably hold his own but can't fight his linemates battles. Flett complements the line nicely, and can look after Klystov if he needs help.

- I like Crisp as a 3rd line C, Burr was a serviceable power forward, but I never saw anything really dynamic about his game. From what I've heard about Larochelle I've liked, seems like a good two-way player.

- I like the fourth line, brings some offense, Nylander is a good playmaker, Pominville a goal-scorer. Marks is the obvious glue guy and makes for a decent fourth line.

- Can't comment on the spares as I have no knowledge of either

- Defense is alright, good contrasting first pair. I like Reise Sr. and me and D had Arnie Brown last year. I like this pairing. I like Zalapski but he is wildly inconsistent, if he could ever put it together he'd be better. Not sure if Sidorenkov is the best partner for him, but if he demonstrates good defense should be fine. I like Hannan as a #7, and would even respect him as a #6.

- Best starter in the draft IMO. Bouchard will win/keep your team in a lot of games. Puchkov is a good back-up, your goalies should perform well as long as the defense stays intact.

- Bryan Murray is a decent coach with a good resume.

- Pierre Larouche is a game-breaker, and a good guy to have on the PP.

- I think Galley is vastly overplayed, (1st pairing, 1st PP, 1st PK) I don't think he can handle that much, nor is he 1st PK worthy, I'd have Brown there over him. Also how can Hannan be on the PK if he is a spare?

- Overall, good team with offensive flare and good goaltending, defense is mildly suspect, they may be overworked by a top offensive team.

Good entry, tony

Agree that Hannan should move up. He is definitely better than sidorenkov and zalapski. Comparing him with brown and reise would take some work, but I wonder if it's just canon that has guys like Marsh ahead of him. Same type of players, but Hannan has been much more relied upon and played in a best-on-best, did Marsh even come close to that?

It is possible that Hannan deserves to be as high as #2 on this depth chart, certainly no lower than 4th.

Would it be possible for everyone to do a complete team breakdown of their eras instead of listing just the one player meets the criteria? I think it would be cool if we could see a breakdown of all 425 players taken in this draft.

If you do this, please include your coach in the era in which he started coaching. I think all levels of coaching are believed to add to a coach's resume (as opposed to a player, where we wouldn't care about junior stuff) so include him in the era in which he started coaching.

First line has prettymuch all the elements you need. I'm not sure how Boll or Hampson was defensively but I know Boll has enough of a reputation as being a good guy to go and get the puck then generate offense off that. Hampson I need to do more research into.

McKegney and Flett are both solid #2 wingers at this level. Especially with as deep as this draft and the ATD were. I'm not a huge fan of the early era Soviets but this is probably a good place for Khylstov to go. Good playmaker to put with Flett and McKegney, and they provide the grit that he needs to create.

Big fan of Burr, Marks, and Crisp. Not sure about Pominville on the PK over Burr, but he's a good option to have there especially if you run a 3rd PK unit.

Defense has good balance and I really like your switch to put in Hannan over ZZ. I do like Zalapski but he's a bit of a liability out there. Hannan would be a good guy to cover for him, but I think Sidorenkov is a better overall dman to begin with.

Bouchard is a guy I like at this level, and Puchkov was a dominant goalie in the early era of Soviet hockey.

*Not sure if Mckenny played his first game in 65 or 66

If unsure, count him under 66-79. If he played a bit in 65-66, that's generally called the "1966" season. Plus if we call that year a writeoff and just look at when he started as a regular NHL player he'd be part of the later period as well (this is really only for tracking purposes at this point since you qualify either way)

First line is well contructed. Himes provides passing, Babych provides scoring and muscle, and Shepelev provides a little all-around offense. This won't be an overly explosive line, but it is solid and well-balanced.

Second line, like the first, is well constructed, but unspectacular. Your overall top-6 forwards are going to be about average offensively in this thing, but I think they'll be one of the more balanced groups around.

Your third line wingers are very good. Mike Murphy might be the best checking winger in the draft, and Pronovost is very solid. I'm not sold on Jackson in the middle. We really don't know if he was good defensively, so it's tough to slot him in on a checking line.

You're fourth line provides a little bit of everything, so it's solid. Asside from Jackson, your bottom 6 is very solid. Maybe you can find some evidence that Jackson was good defensively??

I like your first defense pair. As I've said before, Morrison is one of the best offensive defensemen in this draft, so that's a good start. To pair him up with Rick Green is pretty sweet. Nicely balanced pair.

Your second pair is also solid. Both guys seem to bring a physical presence, so that should make them tough to play against. I'm not as high on Bolton as some, because he only really played 3 seasons.... Third pair is pretty solid as well. Don't let White's buy-out fool you - he was a beast.

Roloson will likely be a weaker than average starter here.

Overall, I like your team. It's hard to see how they stack up untill you get into head to head match-ups, but the well-rounded nature of your team should set you up well in the play-offs. You'll be able to exploit weaknesses without having many of your own to cover up. Nice work.

Here's my distribution:

pre-1916: Bob McDougall, Phat Wilson(technically can't fulfill a requirement because he never played in a professional league)
1917-1942: Alex Smith, Red Green, Charlie Sands, Bill Juzda
1943-1965: Yevgeny Zimin, Alexander Uvarov, Hal Laycoe
1966-1979: Robbie Ftorek, Alexander Bodunov, Anders Kallur, Rick Dudley, Mark Johnson, Jim Dorey, Joe Daley, Red Berenson(coach)
1980-1994: Daren Puppa, Mike Krushelnyski, Michal Pivonka, Gary Leeman, Kim Johnsson
1995-2004: Stephane Yelle
in 2011: Nicklas Backstrom, Drew Doughty

I'll have my roster posted in here some time tonight/tomorrow once all my bios are finished and I select Leeman's replacement.

That is true, but at the same time McDougall played in a league that was the best in the world at the time, whereas Wilson didn't. I'd never thought of it that way. Seventies, what say you?
I believe we discussed it in the draft thread at the time, that in early hockey senior hockey has to be considered equivalent to pro hockey for these purposes.

Agree. I would consider "pro" to be "any hockey which added to the player's legacy", which to me means "not junior".
