Even in video. His physique is ridiculous for anyone, let alone someone his age.

Now there is also a chance he is lying about that, but thats tougher to get away with these days.

I'd be lying if I said thoughts about PEDs or his real age haven't crossed my mind.

Now, I tell myself that the Yankees would've dug really deep on this one and taken a CIA/FBI like approach to doing their research, but then I look at all the shit that's happened in baseball this year and I assume nothing.

Forget the comparisons to Mike Trout or Mickey Mantle for a second, I will be thrilled beyond thrilled if we can find an outfield version of Torres.

Being a Mets fan is misery incarnate. Whenever something stupid happens with this franchise a single tear rolls down my cheek no matter the time of day, even if I dont know about the stupidity yet.

So I have a few buddies who work for the Yankees and I believe they were down in the Dominican Republic a few weeks ago.

All three of them said, to a man, that Jasson Dominquez is scary good. Like video game creation; sports movie phenom type good.

Obviously, baseball is an entirely different animal, and a lot can happen, but everyone I've talked to has come away wowed after seeing this kid. I have to admit, I am genuinely intrigued.

Dominguez = untouchable

I'm originally from NY and was born and lived in Sheepshead Bay section of Brooklyn for first 13 years of my life and than we moved to Rockland County where I lived there for next 25 years.

Got married had two kids and we moved to northern suburbs of Philly about 20 years ago for job purposes and so since than I've been in Eagle, Flyer, Sixers and Phillies country ever since.

So most of my friends these days are all fans of teams I'm rivals of. Anyways tonight at happy hour I made a bet with 3 of my buds who are huge Phillie fans. Bet is that the Mets end up with more wins than the Phils do....$100 with each of them.

Question for my goombas in here....Am I screwed and going to be out of $300 or am I on the right side of the bet?

My opinion is honestly it will be close...very close and it could even come down to final week of season as I can see the Mets winning somewhere in the 85-90 range and I can also see the Phils in that same area as well.

It can go either way but I think if Met bullpen is as improved as it should be, the Mets have a better pen, better starting pitching and their lineup is just as good as Philly's is and so Mets should finish ahead of them.

Am I right or am I screwed? No matter what happens, I'm stoked that baseball is right around the corner.

I hadn't heard that. Is that really true? I love me some McNeil bigtime but for Betts straight up...really? I'd have done that in a NY minute.
It wouldn't have been straight up. Apparently Chaim Bloom was interested in McNeill while with the Rays and so that interest moved with him to the Sox.

I posted upthread sportsbooks giving the mets a 2 win advantage. That said I think it'll all come down to what happens at the trade deadline. Even if they are close one team may become buyers and the other sellers. A pending mets sale is a big wildcard.

Can I place a bet on how many brawls the Astros will be involved in this season?

Honestly I think it'll be less than people think. I suspect most teams cheat one way or another and the Astros just got caught doing theirs. I also think that any Astro who gets plunked will just take their medicine and not charge the mound.

What a garbage can organization! The sign stealing didn't help them win the World Series is absolute bullshit. I hope once per series Altuve and Bregman get put on their asses.

Altuve better keep his head up trying to turn two this season as well. Chase Utley can come out of retirement and destroy him for all I care.

There are a ton of angry people.

They're dumb and arrogant enough to fight back.

I would LOVE it if the players just took things into their own hands and started plunking them regularly. It would be like the return of the enforcer, but in baseball

Unpopular opinion: the Astros cheated but we shut them down in most games anyway. We lost to them because we can't f***ing hit, not because they cheated.

Yeah i mean it in the context of Yankee fans glossing over the Dodgers and saying the Astros took a WS title from us. As if there wasn't another series to play.
The Yankees haven't won the WS because they haven't been good enough. This Astros thing doesn't necessarily change that.

Yankees fans have trouble admitting that they haven't been good enough.

Dodgers fans should feel extremely cheated. They did lose G7 at home in the WS, but those games in Houston were wild. Tons of runs scored and comebacks. Game 5 is the one that stands out the most with all the runs being scored. Remember thinking that it was one of the best games I've ever watched, but now it's so tainted by this because you don't know if they cheated their way back into it.

Couldn't hit a curveball in that 7th game. Literally the reason they lost.

Astros cheating has impacted both of their series though. It wasnt just the video stuff, their pitchers were doctoring balls too.

Also, Verlander is the biggest f***ing clown in the sport. As much as I want to see Judge literally punt Altuve into the right field bleachers, I hope Verlander gets his ass kicked even harder.
